Man we got duped! We were on our way to the palace and they said it was closed. They told us to take a tuktuk ride to a pier where we were told we could get a boat ride to see all these amazing temples. We were told it was an hour of sightseeing and then they would bring us back to the pier. It was a 40 min rush ride through neighborhood canals where you weren't able to see anything. The cool buildings you could have seen were obstructed by trees and we were going so fast we couldn't get a decent shot. We were dropped off at a completely different spot than where we started. The ride was fun, but you can do that for 5-60 baht and we were charged 1200.

Tourists should know there are ferry fees (cheap) and then there are the tour fees (expensive and also negotiable: the dame started at 2000bahts and came down to 1300 when I told her I was not interested) So beware unless you do want a tour and not just be taxied to a destination. Ferry fees can vary depending on time of day and tides. I paid 100bahts in rush hour and high tide and later paid 60 bahts. Great way to get to a destination whilst seeing the waterfront properties

Not all boats stop here. Only white flag boats stop here. Currently, while pier no. 8, Tha Tien, is under renovation, orange boats stop here too.

There is a Starbucks cafe not 100m away and a KFC just another 100m further. The flower market of Bangkok stretches from this pier to the next one.

DON'T TAKE ANY FERRY FROM THIS PIER! As some have already mentioned, any boat trips along this pier you're going to see nothing at all, it is a tourist trap! You see no temples but it is a canal route. You will be ENTICED to see the sights from anywhere, getting on a cheap tuk tuk for 20 baht and ferry for 1000-2000 Bhat, for fraction of the price of normal ferries.

Had the exact same experience of a fake police trying to suggest a tuk tuk to Thai pier, near Rajinee Tier.
Watch out for this dude with a briefcase

Attention: Ripping off tourists who try to cross the river by boat.

Tuktuks pick up tourists from all over the city and drop them at Rajini pier. Once you are there, boat staff exerts pressure on you to pay large amounts for River boat tours. 1,600 to 4,000 bath.

When I complained the staff became aggressive and almost violent, so I backed out of the situation (We were 2 and they were 4).

Instead: You should walk 500 meters to the river bank below Wat Pho temple. There you find the official water taxi, prices starting from 5 bath.
