We recently stayed at Lituba Lodge as a stopover on our way home from Mozambique. We had booked and paid in advance early in 2017 for our one night stay on the 30th of December 2017.
Upon arrival at around 18:30, after a full day of driving, the place looked abandoned, untidy and unwelcoming. We proceeded to check in and a lady (presuming a stand in manageress/caretaker of some sort) who definitely did not seem to expect any guests and who had no people skills proceeded to show us the available rooms, clearly confused about what rooms to allocate.
The condition of the rooms were horrific, shocking and extremely filthy. Good enough for animals, not humans. No clean towels, no toilet paper, most air conditioning units not working and filthy bedding with dust and spider webs all over.
We inquired about the advertised bar and restaurant and were told that there were not enough food or drinks. After a long day on the road, with small kids, we were obviously unhappy and wanted to speak to the owner. After initially refusing to speak to us telephonically, the owner (Tim) arrived a few minutes later. He was rude and said that he would not speak to us unless we calmed down. After waiting for about half an our, he eventually came out of the main building to speak to us. After first accusing us of not paying in full (We shown proof of payment made early 2017), he then started making up numerous excuses for the poor service and state of the rooms, most of which were clear lies.
As we were exhausted after spending 14 hours on the road already, we accepted our fate, took showers with no hot water and tried to get some rest.
We were rudely awaken one o clock in the morning though by extremely loud music and drunk people breaking off branches off trees next to our room windows. These people turned out to be "friends" of the stand in manageress/caretaker and Tim, and were purposely provoking us as a result of our complaints.
We have never felt so unsafe, unwelcome, disgusted and violated in our lives and wish this experience upon no one.
Unfortunately our perception of Swaziland has changed and we will most probably never return again.
In summary our overall experience was horrific, and we have never dealt with such an arrogant rude person as Tim. Almost everything that you see on the website is false and the services offered does not exist.
Stay as far away from this place as you possibly can!!
We hope that Swaziland Tourism steps in and closes this place down for good as people are being conned.
Charmant lodge un peu perdu au milieu de rien! Les chambres sont corrects mais la salle de bain mériterait quelques petites rénovations.
