Really awesome place to be. The food is great. Aspecially the rips. You can see the planes from up close. Sometimes it gets really crowded. I love this place, but it changed over the last 12 years. Mostly for better, but I didn't remember this place so crowded.

Love Sunset Bar & Grill. We’ve been here twice when in St. Maarten @ Maho Beach. They have great drinks, food and of course a great view of the water & the airplanes coming in.

Wow. Good thing I got here just before Irma did. Awesome place. Hopefully they rebuild. Time your visit to avoid the cruise crowds. One day it was packed the next we had the place to ourselves.

Great place to catch the sunset and watch airplanes land close to the beach. There are many videos on youtube of airplanes landing over the adjacent beach but to see it in person is a neat experience. If you can snag a seat on the deck overlooking the beach you're in luck. There's a timetable posted nearby of when planes are due to land today so you'll know when to expect it. The food and drinks are what you'd expect at every bar but everything is done right.

This restaurant is very crowded most of the time for good reason. It is the best place to watch the planes land while you're having a drink or something to eat. Menu is your regular bar food but not bad (you can't get bad food on the French side). We came to watch the sunset and airplanes land. They have a schedule posted on when the planes land daily so you won't miss out. Nearby is a nice beach to get really close to the planes if you're daring.

Pretty over priced but you can find some decent deals but what separates sunset from the rest is the view /surroundings, if you like planes this spot cannot be beat. But be warned your conversations will be periodically interrupted by jet engines.

Food good. Prices were normal for USA but high for region. During peak hours do not expect to see your waiter more then 5 times.

It is always good to have a drink here and watch the planes take-off or land. But it is sooo touristy that it is bad. Very american and shallow. That said, if you get over that, there is music, pretty people, fat tourists, good beers and wine, great burgers and ribs and an amazing view.

Is it still topless women drink for free? I doubt it. Looks like they sold out. Weakest drinks on the island....at least it was all the years we have gone.

The Sunset Bar and Grill is arguably the most popular venue of its type on the Dutch side of St Martin. Popular with tourists with live music ,great food ,beautiful views and outstanding cocktails. It's a great place to meet new friends and have a great time in St Maarten.

Sunset Bar and Grill, at 2 Beacon Hill Road is a very nice place to stop in and have a drink while the planes arrive and depart at the airport. This location is fairly pricey, but the sunset bar staff is very nice and drinks are very good.

We enjoy returning here each time we visit the island.

Great place to hang out. Lots of food choices. Spacious enough for large crowds. We chose to have our dinner inside, which was cooler. It's in a sweet spot to check out the boats and planes approaching for landing. I'd go there again.

Very well located bar, great view of the beach and landing airplanes. Overall good food. However, the service is horrible. If you are going there hoping for a good service you will probably be very disappointed. Very slow service. In addition the servers and bar tenders are not very friendly. When finally the food gets to the table, they want you out as soon as possible. If you just wanna get a beverage or a drink, you are not welcome to the table, you gotta sit by the bar.

I went there with my boyfriend and we both got food poisoning! First, we waited a half hour to get menus (which I had to get up and ask for). When I ordered my food I asked the waitress if there was dairy in the food I was ordering as I am severely allergic. She said there was not, 45 minutes later she comes back with a plate dowsed in butter. I asked her nicely to send it back and bring me a meal without dairy. A half hour later they come back with a plate of shrimp that I could tell had spoiled at the first bite. They smelled terrible and looked bad. Sadly that one bite was enough to give me food poisoning! As bad as the shrimp smelled and looked there is no way they didn't know they were bad when they were cooking them in the kitchen. I am convinced they purposefully served me bad food as "payback" for sending a plate back at first. And at the end of this ordeal they took our credit card to run it and 20 minutes later they still hadn't brought it back. We had to ask for our own credit card back! DO NOT GO HERE THEY WILL TREAT YOU BADLY AND TRY TO HURT YOU IF YOU COMPLAIN!!!!

I like the addition of The Refuge, their new restaurant and night club that is attached to Sunset. Great views of the ocean and the beach/planes coming in. The bar is a fun place for drinks and plane spotting. The restaurant, food was good overall. There was a long wait for food but staff was friendly and offered free drinks to make up for it. Parking costs by the hour during the day but it's like $1 per hour or something like that. Chairs and umbrella are offered on thr beach for a price, $20 I believe

Great place to see the planes come off the water and take off. Food is excellent and cheap. Beer and cocktails are reasonably priced.

Fun place to sit, have a beer and watch the planes landing and taking off. Food is good, but not great. The best part of this this place is the view. Its a great place to idiot watch. Lots of people stand in the jet blast of planes taking off and get sand blasted or blown into the water. Enjoy a beer and some laughs.

Let me start off by saying the primary beach and the Sunset Bar and Grill are adjacent to one another. The restaurant gives you a 270 degree panoramic view of both the airport, the beach and the ocean. This is a by far one of the Islands most well known areas. The beach overall is truly remarkable. The beach is beautiful, it's also not as congested as I first anticipated it to be. You will find yourself surrounded by friendly tourist from all over the world, engaging in conversations with people from all walks of life. But what truly makes it spectacular, is laying on the beach, having a Boeing 737 fly over your head at approximately 145 knots and only about 75ft above your head! This is a must see attraction for all ages, especially if you have young ones who love airplanes. Everyone will leave with a memory that will never be forgotten! ...... As for the Bar Area and Food service at this location, honestly it could have been better. Drinks were extremely strong, which can be good or bad. Food was good but not 5 star. Overall, why I gave this place a 4-star review is the airport and the beach being so close to each other! If it wasn't for that I would have honestly given the Sunset Bar and Grill a 3-star review. Yes I would recommend absolutely coming here to experience this! I truly think the restaurant and bar could have been better for the amount of people who come to the area. Lastly, this is a great place to relax, hang out on the beach, and enjoy the view! The taxi service is right on the steps of the Sunset Bar, as you walk out you and head to your next destination on the island. I hope everyone has a lovely time!

Not even a nice beach, but we wanted to take our teen daughter for the airplane landing experience. We purchased wrist bands for round-trip Taxi transportation upon disembarking from our cruise ship to go to Maho Beach & to rent lounge chairs from the Sunset Beach Bar / Driftwood Boat Bar. A man claiming to work there told us he would get us a taxi out front so that we didn't have to walk far (my husband & I are both disabled). We told him that would be great, but wanted to be sure the taxi he got us accepted the wrist bands that we had already paid for our transportation. He assured us this was the case & so did the taxi driver. Then upon reaching the port, the driver told us we owed him $20 & proceeded to chase us down after we told him we would not pay him since we had already paid. We had our teen daughter with us, so this was pretty scary. They knew this man & knew he was a scam artist, but did nothing when they saw him approach us a few times about helping us. This was our 3rd trip to Maho Beach & will now be our last. Great way to chase the tourists away.

Possibly one of the most unique places in the Caribbean made special by the cool bar on the beach offering free drinks to topless girls of all ages and by the very low flying airplanes coming to land 50 meters away from the beach..

Stopped by to watch a few planes land. Reasonable drink prices and a friendly staff. They have off street parking next door, take your ticket in so they validate it.

Place has completely changed. It now starts closing around 4pm to turn into a nightclub, taking a lot of the fun out of watching the planes take off. Food continues to be mediocre in line with the service, but the expanded size of the restaurant has lost a lot of the appeal of this place. Will still go for novelty but definitely not the same place anymore.

The Guacamole was great with Diablo salsa, good service & afternoon until 5 pm the Jets land & take off. A great view of airport beach and in the evening they had a DJ near the bar & pool. You pay for the view, and it's fun with many folks having fun on the friendly island. I even got a lift from a couple of sisters from Toronto back to the Flamingo Villas Resort as I walked 3 miles to Airport Beach that day, but got a work out. It was a fun day but will take a taxi next time. Sunset was fun and a great view of the sunset too!
