The castle houses exhibitions of the Trenčín Museum, documenting the history of the region and of the castle – exhibitions of historic furniture, weapons, pictures and other artifacts as well as a castle gallery, archaeological collections and findings. The castle is protected as a National Cultural Monument of Slovakia

An impressive castle which history goes back to the age of the Roman Empire, testified by the inscription telling about the victory of the II. Roman legion at Laugaricio (the Latin name of Trenčín) in 179 AD.
The furniture, pictures, internal staff and hunting trophies are original from 15th century and older.
The view of the Vah river and the city from the top of the Matúš Tower is spectacular and amazing, during the day and also in the twilight. Worth to visit it!

Stunning, historical, gorgeous. Definitely a go to. The guide is knowledgeable and is not boring at all. The tour is available in several languages. The view from the Matthew's tower is beautiful.

Wonderful old Slovak castle. You can walk around the grounds of the castle for free, but there is a fee to enter the castle proper.

Terribly boring place with an awfully boring tour guide. Definitely one of the most boring castles in Slovakia. The only thing worth going for is the amazing 360 view from the highest castle tower. Unfortunately you have to take and suffer through the tour to get there.

Nice castle. They didn't have an English tour. Instead they give you a massive brochure foe you to read whilst the guide explains everything in Slovakianslightly disappointed in this as i was not the only English speaker. Otherwise it is well worth the climb and the view.
