The Slovenicum Chamber Orchestra
The Slovenicum Chamber orchestra was founded in 1989 by Uroš Lajovic, the conductor and artistic director of the ensemble. Their main work had been dedicated to the performance practice of the 18th century music; but even more, the orchestra also regularly performed commissioned work by Slovenian composers. At the beginning, it consisted of carefully selected musicians from Ljubljana’s major orchestras - the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTV Symphony Orchestra and the Opera orchestra of Slovenian National Theatre. In their first season, the concerts were comprised of Mozart and Hyden cycles - the programme which lead to a large number of concerts in Slovenia and abroad. They have made many radio, studio and concet recordings. All in all, more than 90 soloists, both Slovenian and foreign, performed with the Slovenicum.
