About

Ten Mile Junction LRT Station is an LRT station on the Bukit Panjang LRT Line in Singapore. This LRT station is the only one that is air conditioned, has platform screen doors and only one track.Due to insufficient demand, train services are provided at a lower frequency than the other LRT stations, and only arrive every 20 minutes. The two-car configuration is not deployed for this service.HistoryStation closureThis station was closed from 10 December 2010 till 30 December 2011 for retrofitting works due to the closure and redevelopment of Ten Mile Junction shopping mall, marking the first time an LRT or MRT Station completely closed in Singapore after opening. LRT Service C, which operates from Ten Mile Junction, was also withdrawn during this time. On 30 December 2011, this station was reopened for revenue service, coinciding with the soft launch of the newly redeveloped Junction 10 shopping mall. Despite the mall renovation, the old station's interior design has been retained.EtymologyThe station and the building is located in the Junction 10 (formerly as Ten Mile Junction), which was named after the distance (10 miles/16 kilometers) of the junction located outside it as calculated from the city along Bukit Timah Road and Upper Bukit Timah Road.Station layoutThis station is the only one on the Bukit Panjang LRT with three levels – other stations only have two. Despite this, Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang each have a mezzanine level, but it is not counted in the floor numbering system.
