Very dissapointed! We came the whole way from Jeddah to see this site and there was nobody during the opening time (Saturday 4pm-6pm). We waited for an hour together with another 5 cars and unfortunately we had to leave.
This is not good for Saudi tourism business!! If there is a reason for closure, please update your opening time and put there a sign that it is closed.
Great ancient. Needs more guidance from the tourism authority.
Thanks for the very accommodating curator who allowed us to enter the place.
The place is preserved but needs more guidance arrangements and detailed sign posts.
Some people think that Jethro's family lived in the caves. But I think this rocky caves were used for rich people's tombs. If you read Bible you can realize that rich people bought rocky cave to bury corpse at that time. In Jethro's caves, there are various size of pits including pits suitable for small corpse.
A local man said that there is Jethro's garden just across the road in front of the caves. The large garden is now full of trees with fenced wall. Maybe Jethro's family lived there. And the garden is not far from Moses Well.
This place is of Hazrat Shoaib
