The bell tower is on right few steps after entering to the church. There is a door with small sign saying to the tower. You ll need to pay a small fee to the lady sitting next to it. I almost missed this beautiful view.

Beautiful church built by the Italian architect Rastrelli over a sixteen year period from 1748 to 1764. The cathedral is the center piece of the convent complex. The church and the monastery are awesome in their blue and white color even if the weather is not nice. However the interiors are not so rich as you can expect.
Located not so far from Nevsky Prospeckt, you can go there by metro (Chernyshevskaya) or take a bus. Worth a visit.

As of August 2015 the cathedral is under restoration and its two thirds of exterior is cover by scaffolding. It looks like it will take a while.

This church is used for the concerts and other cultural activity now (in near future it will be given to the Russian Orthodox Church). It is possible to go up to belfry. View over the city is wonderful, but not so touristic as on the Isaac cathedral belfry and you are almost along in compare with Isaac Cathedral.
