The museum regularly offers very interesting temporary exhibitions - check their website for detailed information before going.
Greatest museum ever representing Russian and European art, paintings. A few hours are not enough. It always has new exhibitions.
The second biggest museum in the city after the Hermitage. With a special focus in russian art, definitely an obliged visit in the city. Have in mind that you'll spend at least 2-4 hrs in here.
Beautiful museum, only wish it wasn't that cold in Petersburg and Moscow during our visit. Worth the visit, Russia is superpower
Very nice art museum. Without any context, the paintings and sculptures mean little, but if you have a local with you to explain culture and context, it's great. Absolutely beautiful ceilings in many places in the museum, too. Also notable - several large paintings were hung in rooms with sketches/details used by the artist in preparing the large final work. Very cool.
Must see for evrbd. Strong collection of Russians RT in the interior of tsar's residence!
Really enjoyed the museum. Like all museums, tourist groups are a real downer - but the collection is solid and its a nice building. Littered with souvenir shops, but barely any maps around the building and its poorly sign posted
It is a matter of taste of course but for me the second floor was just a big wow. If you have little time or tired legs i would focus on it.
It's the national art gallery of Russia and it has something for everyone (even something that will get a 6 year old excited). Worth visiting beyond the other great sites of St. Petersburg.
A very good place to be in case of rain, or for those who stay more than 2 days in the city. Exhibition rooms are well decorated. Free of tourist crowds.
