  Nicely decorated place. Nice view over lake Alqueva. Good Alentejano home cooking. Huge portions. No vegetarian options. Crowded, reservation highly recommended. Many tourists which is always a risk for a restaurant's quality.

  We just asked for a table and they answered no in a very rude way. I was never treated that bad in a restaurant. The fact that they are full and working a lot is not a reason to treat people that way. Fortunately we had a great meal in another place inside the town.

  We arrived in Monsaraz at 2 pm and tried to have a lunch in this restaurant. We were welcommed in a nasty way. The owner and the cooks neither greeted us. When we asked if it was possible to sit and have a meal they only say no by shaking their heads. No words no sorry. Nothing! If only they have said us "no sorry, too late"... but i never received such a treatment like a customer in my life! I will never come back!

  Muito mau cheguei as 21h e não atenderam com desculpa de casa cheia quando tinham 3 mesas ocupadas por isso atenção jantares de calhar só até às 19h.

  Très lent, addition louche, service désagréable et lent et impossibilité d'aller en terrasse malgré des tables disponible. Et dans l'ensemble un rapport qualité/prix très très mauvais.
  
  Addition: alors je mets à part le petit jeu attrape-touriste avec des tapas que l'on vous apporte (avant la carte) et que l'on vous facture un bras si vous y toucher. Le point grave : c'est qu'on ne vous donne PAS DE FACTURE détaillée juste le prix, lorsque l'on vous montre l'écran vous découvrez par exemple une "salade mixte" à 3€ que la carte et facturée à 6€ ou bien des couverts facturés à 1,5€.
  Service: accueil dédaigneux, serveur pas très présent sauf pour s'énerver avec les cuisinières (cuisine ouverte sur la salle), ou bien pour vous faire la grimace lorsque vous refusez les desserts et café alors que vous êtes déjà debout, malgré cette intervention vous attendrez 5 min debout que l'on vous donne "l'addition"
  Terrasse: on vous parle de réservation mais des tables sont restées disponible le temps du repas et d'une promenade dans la ville (la terrasse est visible depuis le parking)

  Authentic Portuguese restaurant run by two sisters. The food was delicious and served promptly with warmth and kindness. I made a booking on their website using the form the day before our visit and received a reply within hours.
  
  Before we had sat at our table there were a few dishes of starters on it; mozzarella salad, cheese, olives and bread, and black sausage slices. As per usual Portuguese restaurants these are not complimentary so we chose the bread and olives and the mozzarella salad. A lovely cold bottle of white wine was served within minutes too.
  
  The menu was simple with just two options of meat (lamb with potatoes and pork with onions) and a couple of codfish choices. We chose one portion of the pork with onions and rice to share between my husband and I. The rice was special with coriander and nuts and garlic oil. So tasty. My husband and I don't generally eat large portions so to share one between us was plenty.
  
  The cakes and desserts were homemade too and delicious.
  
  A lovely meal and restaurant. Highly recommended!
