I wish there were zero or negative stars. My fiancé and I got stuck in PR past our original planned date due to weather disrupting our flight. We got stuck in this pig pen. Actually I wouldn’t even keep pigs here. First the beds were unmade and had stains on the sheets. When I went to brush my teeth the sink flooded from the pipes down below. Then the shower handles were literally broken off so we couldn’t even shower. The staff was horrible and had no resolution for the unacceptable conditions. Unacceptable to a barn animal even

I have been staying at the Fortaleza Suites since early December. I love it here. As a single woman traveling alone I feel safe and watched out for. Restaurants and shopping are within steps of the hotel. Warning: If you don't want to hear the street noise, it can get pretty loud on the weekends, ask if one of the interior rooms are available, otherwise bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. This is no fault to the hotel at all, it is located on a busy street!!! But, Maricruz and her staff will be glad to accommodate, best they can, and switch your room. But be understanding, this place stays pretty full. The rooms are always clean, clean linens, mopped floors, and is beautifully decorated. I can say that with all honesty because I watch the cleaning staff everyday. They are the best! The common areas are warm and welcoming. It is setup like a villa with small apartments and an open roof. It truly feels like a beautiful home away from home.

Fortaleza Suites has bounced back so quickly after Maria. I am truly amazed. They have worked so hard. My team was able to find kind refuge with Maricruz and Hugo upon their arrival to assist in the recovery. We were the 1st to stay in October, the day the generator was installed. Rooms and power was so scarce after Maria. But Hugo and Maricruz, along with a few staff, took great care of us and assisted us with every need. Maricruz is pretty resourceful in a pinch. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place. They treat everyone coming in like family (I watch it). They are helpful and kind. And Carla is a joy. The most beautiful smile and always happy to see you.

Thank you Maricruz and your staff for making us feel like we're home. 😍

Maricruz was simply amazing. A small boutique hotel. Easy to miss, but such a gem. Stay here! I know I'll be back.

Fortaleza suits well cause it's a small cute hotel where you see a little bit of everything happening around you I gave it 4 🌟. The hotel it's self isn't so bad but I will tell you that when we arrived there we had an issue with one of our beds. Yes we had paid for the cheapest room they had but even though we expected clean beds. Well anyways because of that, that night they switched us to a better room that was like an upgrade from the one we paid for. It was nice for us and we were happy. The next morning we went out and didn't come back until late at night. The front desk guy came to knock on our door and told us that he had send an email to the owner about what had happened with our first room and the owner said to move us to the presidential suite. Well that was more than we had asked for and it was nice. It was just like having your own apartment. First time in Puerto Rico and we love it.

Best place to stay in Old San Juan. Nicest people and super nice rooms. Great price too. Love staying here. Been here twice and will be back again.

Was a quiet, clean, charming hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Close to many restaurants, bars and shops. They held our luggage before and after our stay so we were free to explore the city. The front office closes about 10pm and reopens 8am so getting in and out requires a second key to the front door. Loved this place and cant wait to stay again.

Disappointing. While some of the rooms are probably comfortable, my experience was quite unpleasant. The electricity was out in my room for multiple days, the AC cannot be adjusted, the ceiling fan is purely decoration, and the lack of bathroom ventilation makes every shower transform your room into a wet-sauna. The mosquitoes and lack of discount in light of the poor service makes this location a no-go.
