For example, we advise on the location of business establishments such as bank branches, retail stores and health care facilities. In all cases, a thorough economic analysis of the relevant market is coupled with a careful review of operational systems in the corresponding industry. The effective application of this approach was instrumental in the establishment of a hospital, several retail stores and a branch of a major credit union within the last five years.

We focus on helping clients to make decisions, not on publishing fancy documents to decorate shelves.

For example, a project that ended in the construction of a new $30-million hospital required our involvement in negotiations with the entity providing a guarantee for a bond issue. We also helped the client to evaluate several strategic options regarding siting, financing and competitive positioning in a regional health care market.

We reengineered the process to handle complaints at a major Government agency. The project started with the selection of an eight-person team including officials from the head office, managerial personnel from one regional office and social workers involved directly with cases. The resulting recommendations came from the team, not just the consultants, leading to a smooth implementation.
