Why Study Public Administration?
Our lives are affected and even influenced by the government. Society depends on how the branches of government perform their duties and responsibilities. Public Administration provides an understanding of the study of public institution and the dynamics of their relationship with the citizens of the country. The course covers a vast amount of activity from management and policy formulation, implementation, and evaluation so that the government can efficiently perform the function.
Specific Objectives/ Student Outcomes
At the end of semester, students are expected to:
• Survey and compare the evolution of public administration in the Philippines and other countries
• Consider and Apply public administration and governance as a discipline that contributes to the development efforts of the country and hot this is influenced by various political, social, economic and cultural factors
• Describe and distinguish public administration and governance and theories to analyze, identify and relate to global, national and local issues
• Familiarize with the emerging trends, paradigms and practices in public sector management and administration
• Analyze theories, trends, paradigms and practice terms of viability to issues and problems the country is expecting
General Program Goals
• Introduce public administration as a field of practice and as an academic discipline
• Identify and discuss essential theories of management and administration
• Develop ways and means of dealing with current problems and issues of administration and governance
