Description

PHILOSOPHY

The SEMINARIO DE JESUS NAZARENO, INC. is an educational community administered by priests, appointed by the Bishop of Borongan, with the assistance of religious sisters as well as dedicated and competent lay men and women.
Its philosophy of Education is based on the Christian concept of human person as one whose origin, nature and destiny emanate from God; that this God has entered into human history and into the personal history of each individual, thus, underlining the dignity of each person. Endowed with unique gifts, the human person is called to cooperate with his/her Creator in bringing him/herself and all creation to perfection.
As a social being, the human person is called to live and grow in community. His/Her being an image of God becomes clearer and more perceptible to the extent that he/she draws closer to his/her full human development while simultaneously being actively involved in the pursuit of the common good.
The SEMINARIO DE JESUS NAZARENO, INC. hopes to prepare the seminarians for the service of spreading the Kingdom of God, so that by leading an exemplary Christian life, they become, as it were, a saving leaven in the human community. (Gravissimum Educationis, n.8)

VISION

We envision a community of Christian disciples united in faith, hope and love, where integral human formation is effectively fostered and vocation to the priesthood is faithfully nurtured according to the image of Jesus, the Nazarene, in order to prepare and give, for the local churches of Samar, worthy candidates to the college seminary formation and, in the long run, to the priestly order and ministry.

OBJECTIVES

As a Seminary school, SJN seeks to give its seminarians the total human development according to the mind of the Church and to the Heart of Christ, within the four pillars of formation: spirituality, academics, community life, and apostolate.
As a Catholic school, SJN deems to instill in its seminarians spiritual and moral virtues anchored in the teaching and tradition of the Catholic Church, centered in the Gospel values and the Word of God, strengthened by the sacraments especially by the Eucharist and Reconciliation, deepened by personal and communal prayer and discernment, and nourished by the devotion to Mary and the Saints.
As a Filipino-Samareño school, SJN strives to equip its students urgent sense of responsibility and concern for the Philippine nation and Samar island and its people; deep appreciation of their distinct Filipino and Samarnon culture and heritage; and profound awareness of the needs and hopes of the Filipino people in general and of the people of Samar in particular; so that its students could readily respond to the demands and challenges of the times as global Filipino-Samareño youth.
As a College Preparatory school, SJN offers a teaching-learning situation that seeks to foster in the students the habits of disciplined study, continuous learning, critical reflection, and effective written and oral communication. It strives to enhance the students’ talents and gifts, and to cultivate in them deep knowledge of the prescribed secondary learning areas, for them to relate their learning with—and translate it into—their psycho-emotional, religious, cultural, social and personal development for the service of God and His people.
