The year was 1981 when an International Crusade Team from the US and Canada arrived. They were husband and wife team of Frank and Jeanne Ley with Gordon Payne, Tim Bramer, Elizabeth Ann Fowler and Beth Staley. They lived at rented houses. One of the rented houses served as the venue for the initial bible study which later on became the first core group of the fellowship. They started distributing tracts in the neighborhood to invite more to bible studies. Regular Tuesday nights bible studies were scheduled for those positive responses. Jim Le Valley became the regular bible study teacher since he was a missionary who used to speak Tagalog. More responded for bible studies until they accepted the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
After several series of bible studies, Jim Le Valley returned to his home country and his last bible study in Morong was April 27, 1982. He was replaced by Kenn Brooks. More participated and attended the succeeding bible studies and became regular attendees. They continue to grow in faith until they decided to be converted from their first beliefs and have a deeper relationship with the Lord.
The first baptism was held in 1981 at Uugong Falls and the first brethren to be baptized were Winnie Mata and Carmen Corbilla followed by Edith, Arlene and Mena. Pomona, Lourdes, Lalan and Mr. Santos on August 8, 1982 with Dad Brooks as the first speaker during the Sunday Worship Service. The Lord’s Supper then was held every 3:00 pm on Sundays which was then held later every Sunday morning.
Before the ICT returned home, the Missionary Team composed of Bill and Nicky with their son Nathan, Brad Wilson and Barbara Cramer came to continue the ministry in Morong. More home bible studies, film showings and tracts distribution were done. Salvation came to those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. The owners of the rented house where the first bible study was held, Nanding and Letty dela Cruz also came to know and entrust their salvation to the Lord Jesus Christ. On October 4, 1986, the fellowship which was then called Morong Christian Church was transferred to a bigger place at Raymundo St., also in Morong, Rizal. The 2nd Rizal Christian Fellowhip was hosted by the church there.
On 1986, before the Missionary Team left Morong, another team came composed of Mike and Beverly Smits with their kids Heather and Aaron. They continue the ministry at Morong Christian Church until 1989. They then decided to transfer and continue their mission in the mountains of Sagada, located at the Provinces of Benguet and Mountain Province. Before they left Morong, they helped in buying a parcel of land for the church. A chapel was then constructed with the help of Christian Missionaries and with funds raised by the members. On November 6, 1988, they transferred to the new site and became the permanent house of Morong Christian Church.
Morong Christian Church continue to praise and worship God in spirit and truth performing the Great Commission in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
To God be the Glory!!
