Initially I was impressed with Meca-J. Reserving the car was easy, and we got a free upgrade when they didn't have the car we ordered. Sadly we had a nightmare when we tried to return the car. We requested and paid for airport drop off, but even though we provided our itinerary when we arrived at 4am with two tired young boys there was no one there to take us to the airport.
They neglected to tell us they did not open until 6am, and our flight was 6:20am. I can forgive an honest mistake, but their security guard would not make any suggestions, call anyone, offered no help whatsoever and simply demanded that we pay for the gas. I told him we had already paid for drop off, and the office had my credit card number and would settle up with them later. He didn't care, when our taxis arrived he stood in front of it with his hands on his hips like he was some kind of super hero and mocked us. Suddenly he was able to get on his phone and make phone calls. Not sure who he was talking to, but it wasn't to help us of course.
I tried calling, texting, and Vibering all contacts I had for Meca-J including the number of the driver who picked us up. No answer, no emergency service. With a tired family, and having to get to airport I had to give in and pay for the gas while the guard stood there with a smug look on his face. I used a lot of words I normally wouldn't say, and we left in the taxis.
I have since left numerous messages for Meca-J asking for an explanation. If they had responded in any way and made any attempt to apologize I would not be writing this review. They don't care. They completely ignored me.
Good Customer Service is about how you take care of problems and your customers when something doesn't go right. Meca-J severely lacks in understanding what that means. Train your guard to show some compassion, respect and help customers when they are lost and confused. Don't belittle them and treat them like criminals. Have an after hours support line. Communicate your hours of operation when customer pick up their vehicles. Especially if you take their money for Airport drop-off. And mostly, if they have a bad experience, don't ignore them, at least return their call.
If you are going to Bacolod and need a van and driver, please book Meca J. I contacted them one month before our arrival on Facebook. They responded promptly and was very patient with my queries. They are very organized and easy to contact. They provided us a nice van and a wonderful driver named Danilo. Kuya Danilo was very punctual, polite, and helpful. He even acted as our tour guide. I believe we would not have enjoyed our trip without Meca J and Danilo!!! Until next time!!
Major office for rent a car in Bacolod city
Altis model not maintained (noisy engine) and steering wheel not aligned. You also have to refill at gas station where their office is located and gas boy requires one with highest octane rating (most expensive)
All the cars we rented were new and clean. The drivers were all professional, respectful, knowledgeable, and honest--thank you Arnel & John! Thanks also for taking us home to Dumaguete safely. When you call or message MECA-J they respond right away, no wonder why Campuestohan recommends MECA-J, simply because they're the best car rental agency in Bacolod and Negros!
We were treated like a family. The entire trip was so pleasant and their drivers are the most accommodating. They know how to properly treat the guests and entertain them as well..
