Film ASEAN, the forum of the lead government agencies in film development within the ten Association of Southeast Asian Nations member states, was conceptualized in 2013 to create a shared vision and common platform with the goal of strengthening the film-related programs in the region, especially for film production, distribution, education and other audiovisual developments to contribute toward ASEAN integration.
While most of these countries have a long history of activities in cinema, Film ASEAN seeks to act as a unified organization that promotes the advancement of infrastructure, systems and programs that allow the film, audiovisual, and creative industries to progress for nation-building and cultural exchange.
