Description

The History

The vision came in bits and pieces thru sharing, dreaming, and evaluating of possibilities. Many words of encouragement were declared in the church through special speakers, invited guests and mentors. The theme “The Year of God’s Favor and the Year of God’s Fruitfulness” sent challenges to the hearts of the leaders. Ptr. Reynaldo and Grace Flores spent many times of sharing with Senia Eniego some exciting possibilities for Bethany Missions and which was also shared in bits and pieces to the leaders and Christian workers.
It was December 2000 when the founder of Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church, Rev. Arsenio and Pat Eniego came from Los Angeles, California to San Jose. Rey and Grace shared with them the vision of expanding the ministry thru establishing a school. The decision was finalized and preparations were made. It was shared to the Board of Trustees and Ptr. Rey and Grace went to Manila to visit Christian schools and talk with Sis. Fanie and other members of Faith, Hope and Love Assembly of Los Angeles who were previously vacationing in Bulacan. It was a very enriching and encouraging visit. Together they conducted a tour to some value-based Christian institutions, interviewed administrators and principals and were reaffirmed of the vision of establishing a value-based institution.
It was soon established that Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church and Faith, Hope and Love Assembly will partner together in establishing a school using the curriculum of Accelerated Christian Education of the School of Tomorrow International at San Jose, Occ. Mindoro.
Mrs. Inocencia Maray who would be the acting principal made a feasibility study for the School of Tomorrow. She named the school “Bethany Learning Academy” which was also accepted. However, this name was revised to “Bethany Learning Academy of San Jose, Occ. Mindoro because the Security and Exchange Commision rejected the original name due to duplicity with other institution.
The School Board was selected. They spent long hours of planning, among them were Ptr. Rey & Grace Flores, Ms. Senia Eniego, Ptr. Boni Enelda, Ptr. Jessie Polinar, Mrs. Gloria Pascua, Mrs. Luisa Obligar, Mr. Franklin Santiago, Mr. Elemer Francisco and Mrs. Pearly Esperanza. Later at year 2002, Mr. Jameson Balmes, Ptr. Noelito Hablo and Mrs. Teresita Benoza were invited to join the school board to share their expertise in teaching and administration. We are thankful for the two years commitment of Ms. Senia Eniego, Mrs. Pearly Esperanza, Mr. Franklin Santiago and Mr. Elmer Francisco. They too had contributed their knowledge and precious time in laying the groundwork of establishing the school.
Rey and Grace worked on the permit with the Department of Education presenting all legal documents to complete DepEd requirements. The files were completed with the assistance of Nick Pascua, Norbert Cajayon, Mrs. Rosalie Polinar and Mrs. Estrella Vallejo. It was grueling task but beneficial and they enjoyed a cordial relationship with Mrs. Muniz who was then the DepEd. Head for the Private Schools.
The school officially opened on School Year 2001-2002. Our beginning staffs were the following: Mrs. Inocencia Maray, Mr. Nicanor Pascua, Mrs. Gloria Pascua, Mrs. Rosalie Polinar, Mrs. Esther Vallejo, & Mr. Norbert Cajayon.
The Department of Education granted a Government Permit for Pre-Elementary and Elementary from Grades I-IV and only a temporary permit for the Secondary Level because of a deficiency. This problem was later addressed and put in order by Mrs. Gloria Pascua, who succeeded Mrs. Maray as principal.
Mrs. Gloria Pascua acted as our principal on School Year 2003-2004, and introduced some amendments towards school developments but it was only in July 2004 when she received a definite confirmation of God’s call for her to be the principal of Bethany Learning Academy of San Jose, Occ. Mindoro.
We started full of hope, though we met some difficulties but having a gifted staff who are committed to the vision made us dauntless and courageous knowing that this vision is from the Lord. We are very thankful to all the people whose names are not mentioned, who helped and inspired this vision, shared precious time in the physical preparations and arrangements, who shared snacks and some light moments with those who labored day and night, and for those who also pulled some bills from their pocket to meet some financial needs.
