The Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission is the human rights institution of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao and the first office created by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) through RA11054 otherwise known as the Bangsamoro Organic Law and further operationalized by the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 4 or the Bangsamoro Human Rights Act of 2019. With the human rights violations and injustices committed against the Bangsamoro people from the past, the creation of BHRC was called for more than ever. The BHRC was vested the powers and function to, among others: -promote human rights through education and training; -protect human rights by conducting investigations and monitoring; -advise the government on human rights protection and promotion; -protect human rights defenders; -and to act as transitional justice mechanism. It is the overarching mission and vision of the Commission that in fulfilling the said functions, there will be an inclusive, empowered, and human rights conscious Bangsamoro society. To alleviate the lives of each and every Bangsamoro is our jihad. For it is through service, by protecting the homes, the lives, and the future of those who cannot do so for themselves that the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission serves.
