We are in the process of establishing the PNG Science & Technology Secretariat (office)and also the Council, within the Ministry of Higher Education, Research , Science & Technology.

The PNG Science & Technology Council, when established will be responsible for advising the Government of Papua New Guinea in all matters relating to research, science and technology, including formulation of relevant policies on the conduct of research in Papua New Guinea, and the development (and implementation) of a National Science, Technology and innovation strategy.

The latter is driven by NEC's decision to "Realign all Research Agencies and Statutory Bodies and prioritize research needs of the country and thus develop a strategic plan."
