The new Operating Theatre at Modilon General Hospital was opened today by the Foirmer Minister for Health in PNG, Sir Peter Barter and Secretary of Health, Pascoe Kasse. The operating Theatre was designed by Cabrini Hospital in Melbourne and jointly funded by the PNG and Australian Government.
Modilon Hospital is a teaching Hospital to train Rural Doctors, the state of art Operating Theatres (4) will be used to train doctors who will ultimately serve the people in remote rural areas of PNG.
Sir Peter Barter paid tribute to the Chairman of Hospital Board and former President of the Divine Word University for the work making this first class medical facility a reality.
The opening was witnessed by Jim Kas, Governor, senior staff from Cabrini Hospital, Secretary of National Planning, the Archbishop of Madang, Stephen Reichert and a crowd that exceeded 1000 with enterainment by sing sing groups.
