Nice place with a large function venue . Went there for an event and had nice service . One of the better hotels in Madang .
Rooms are good, clean, well lite. People are friendly. Breakfast Buffet is a bit limited, if you are staying more than 3 days you will get bored of it. Worst aspect by far is the Internet. It's expensive and slow even for a hotel. The prices and speed are from the 2005 era, very disappointing
Very expensive and upscale, but still charges you hand over fist for the WiFi. You can buy vouchers for 100 MB and up for ridiculous prices. They also have the only dive center in town and can set any price they like. Diving is good, but not spectacular. The wrecks are cool, especially the well preserved B25 bomber. But the reefs are middling.
Very nice and relaxing place. Visited it during vessel's call to Madang. Place is not crowded. Pool area is ok. Nice view on the bay. In comparison to other places in Madang it's the best😀 nice and chilling atmosphere. Good experience.
Just wander was Nikolay Mikluho-Maklai really visited this place?
Clean, relaxing. Nice view of harbor. Gecko visitor in our room. Pool needs cleaning. Need new poolside chairs. Food was pretty good. Liked the stir fry. Great time and service, overall. Very accommodating staff. Good coffee for sale in gift shop. Hair dryer, fluffy towels and coffee plunger/tea pot in rooms. Safe for locking valuables in room. Nice couches and chairs in room.
Was a divemaster here in the late 80s andcesrly 90s.awesome place then.
Beautiful view of the sun rise.
Trafficked tree kangaroos at Madang Resort!
Hi all,
I stayed at Madang Resort in Oct 2017 and wanted to share my experience with you.
Madang Resort as such is OK value for money if you get an online deal incl. breakfast. Location is probably the most convenient in town. Rooms are somewhat run-down (renovations are taking place for the APEC Summit in 2018) and there's no access to the sea from the hotel premises.
However, I would recommend all travelers to REFRAIN from staying at Madang Resort.
Reason: They have trafficked tree kangaroos in small enclosures. I asked the staff about the animals and without hesitation they told me that the resort had bought the kangaroos off the locals, who'd caught them in the forest. I escalated the matter to the manager, who concurred and said they were there for the guests to enjoy. Besides the tree kangaroos, the cages hold birds incl. big hornbills (there's no room for them to fly).
Madang has an elaborate range of good hotels and guest houses; choose a different option than Madang Resort.
In my naïvity, I'm hoping that if enough guests stay away from MR due to their animal policies, maybe that'll change their attitude and make them either built bigger enclosures or release the poor beasts entirely (they've been in captivity for 1.5 years meaning that they probably could be re-released without issues).
I believe it's our responsibility as guests and consumers to take a stand against businesses who by engaging in animal trafficking thus encourage locals to capture them in the wild.
The people are friendly and food is nice
The very best International Hotel in South Pacific
Absolutely environmental friendly and the food is just awesome!
Beautiful view of the sun rises.
Hospitality is awesome, I enjoyed it so much in my short stay..
Services is good. Good people and the Scenery! Oh! Amazing!
The rooms are pretty ordinary. The place is old. Nice gardens and views. Very ordinary breakfast.
The Madang Resort Hotel is a great place. Good service. Superb environment. Wildlife. And a giant barra in the canal. Some of the facilities in-room are a little tired but that doesn't take anything away. Go to this place.
