The Madang Airport building is very old and needs to be replaced. The mens room also requires an upgrade. The security check-in systems would need a scanning machine like Port Moresby - basically everything needs to be changed or otherwise the old building needs to be renovated.

The runway is a little too short especially for the Fokker F100. I am not a person who fly such an aeroplane but being a passenger on F100 landing in Nadzab and at Jacksons Airport one can tell that the Madang airport maybe too short for comfort. I give Madang Airport 3 stars because of the length of its runway and the state of its passenger terminal.

Madang is a nice place, however, settlements near the airport and road leading to the airport makes it unsafe for general public to travel freely.

Easy access to Madang, but flights often don't arrive (like, at all), so before you head to the airport try to verify that your plane is there or en route and is likely to leave at the appointed hour. If it isn't, try to arrange a way to keep in touch with airport staff. They'll do their best to keep you posted.
