Welcome to the Wellington Gardens. We are a family of four gardens, distinctly different yet interconnected by a common cause: we are here for people, and plants.

Our renowned Wellington landscape of gentle (and not-so-gentle) rolling hills, offers visitors more than spectacular views, they gain new perspectives. Our vast array of flora and fauna not only connects people with nature, but also with each other. Our iconic and historic locations invite people to discover the new, and rediscover the old.

Our family of four Wellington City Council gardens starts with the Wellington Botanic Garden: a multi-layered, manicured masterpiece, where even the views are framed by hills. Otari-Wilton’s Bush is pristine original forest and a rich sanctuary of native plants, from local to alpine to coast. Bolton Street Cemetery is our link, from the Wellington Botanic Garden to the Terrace, and from our present to the past. Truby King Park is our hidden architectural gem – a house and garden nestled amongst the green belt and a century of stories.

Protectors of heritage, cultivators of experiences, and sowers of knowledge, we are the Wellington Gardens.
