Awesome. Helpful. We broke down in Tirau on the way to Taupo with trailer.Dylan organised us a courtesy car with tow bar, to continue on journey. Sadly can't comment about mechanical side so much, cos car was history.

We had a breakdown and they come out to tow us back to their shop. Whats really awkward is that since we are on our way to auckland and our car broke down, we had to have someone picking us up from Auckland. But they are so nice to give us a car to drive to auckland and drive our car to auckland when they fixed it. Thank u!

I have had amazing service from Tirau Motors. My car just stopped in the 2 lane segment near the top of the Kaimai's. Bryan arrived in half the time the original AA service man did. In a very short time my car was loaded up on the tow truck and I was dropped off at my home and the car taken off for some TLC of the mechanical kind. They kept me up to date with progress and returned my car in 4 days. My sons who live in the Wellington Region have arranged payment by phone and even sorted out tyres for my car. There is also the option to pay by Internet Banking. Cassandra, in the office was amazing as was Bryan, the proprietor. Great service from a local business. Thank you Tirau Motors.

    Ripped us off.

There was white steam coming out of our car while we were on our way to Taupo, so we had to stop in Tirau to have it checked. We said that we were not prepared to pay a lot and that they should just quickly check on it and tell us what the problem is. They said it wouldn't cost very much and we had to wait for 2 hours and then for another hour.
In the end we had to pay 120 NZD (!!!) and they found NOTHING AT ALL! We obviously had serious problems with our engine but they couldn't figure out what it was and still charged us 120 bucks for doing nothing at all!
Don't go there, they rip off backpackers and tourists in general!
