Nice warm, friendly place to stop with a great variety of food choices. Plenty of history on display explaining the history of the road. Be very careful when driving in from either direction. I felt quite nervous entering and exiting as huge truck and trailer units race by and the road is not wide enough to safely enter or exit. Free public toilets and plenty of parking for all size vehicles.

The fire was going when we visited on a cold wet day which was awesome.

Drink prices normal, but food is quite expensive.

Absolute bloody life saver when you're biking highway 5. Really friendly staff. They were nice enough to let me pitch my tent.

We paid over $9 for a toasted sandwich. The cheese to other ingredient ratio was way off, with the cheese practically drowning the entire sandwich. Also paid $6 for a milk "shake" which was not mixed well at all (all milk on the bottom and all flavour on top). Also the toilets were covered in urine. All in all a generally unsavoury experience for such a beautiful area in New Zealand.

Toasties are the best and service is really great - a we gem in the middle of a hard drive highway. Do stop - its worth it

Always worth a stop. Devonshire tea needs smaller, lighter scones. Not the huge Aussie damper style that we were served.

A handy place to stop en route to Napier or from. Plenty of parking and a warm fire if on your bike as we were once. Stopped there with BOP Mustang once.

A nice place! Loads of parking. Public toilets on-site outside. There are powered spaces for campers and caravans and EV drivers looking for a charge at 16amp / blue commando. There may also be an EV fast charger here soon.

Good honest down to earth place. Surprisingly good cakes considering how remote this place is. Very convenient stop on the road. Fun to look at all the old photos and press cuttings. Contrary to the unkind remarks made by another reviewer, the staff were friendly and efficient.
