Nice as a pub for a drink but food was below average (mayonnaise on fish? Really?).
Hoegarden was nowhere close to what it should taste like so better stick to local brewsresponse / report this review -

Fun environment with good food and OK service. Only issue for me was that the seating was extremely cramped. Could do with a re-shuffle to be more comfortable. It is also a pub so was a little loud but with respectable clientele.
If you go there I recommend the Pork belly bites as a starter, they were Excellent.response / report this review -

Best meals in a long time at Smugglers Tahunanui. I had the lamb lubber and it was truly melt in mouth and had lovely veges with it. The dessert we shared was divine. When food is that memorable you don't think about the price. The wait staff were very efficient and friendly. Service and food was timely. Would absolutely recommend a visit.

Very disappointed with our most recent visit.
Food prices have gone through the roof with a chewy, poorly cooked steak with a side of chips and a collection of leaves costing $37.90. To choose a sauce for the steak (mushroom or cracked pepper etc) was an additional $4.
The staff were friendly but the service was lack luster. Forgetting to bring a steak knife, serving our 2 year old her meal so piping hot it burnt my hands when checking how hot the chips were and forgetting the dessert that came with the kids meal.
The waitress stacked my families used dishes on top of each other on our table while I was still eating my meal.
We will not be returning as the menu has changed over the years and now the prices are so ridiculously expensive. It is not a luxury dining establishment, with the patrons being exceptionally boisterous and loud (after all it is a pub) yet your wallet will think it should've been.response / report this review -

My favourite restaurant in Nelson. Always a good feed. Can be very busy and they don't take reservations unless you have a large group. Tons of character in the building. Very polite, friendly and helpful staff.

Lacking in craft beers being located in Nelson, but the food and atmosphere are great. It's located right behind the Aloha Lodge with a fence that you can walk through, which was convenient during my stay.

Food was good and quantities generous. The rack of ribs was excellent. Friendly staff. Can get busy for dinner but arrive after 8pm and should be no problem.
