A real slice of ancient forest that holds an amazing amount of nz native species. SMM really needs help with getting funds to continue the awesome work they're doing. You can become an Inspired Kaitiaki for as little as $5.77 per week and visit as often as you like plus you get other great benefits included. Well worth it ❤

Well maintained, alot of money invested into the reserve - some of the tracks need regularily updating as people have ripped signs down and track becomes confusing without signage.
Wouldnt recommend the steep walks when its been raining definatley not suitable for people with pre existing injuries or accident prone.

Lovely place to enjoy a peaceful walk through native bush. Great to see so many bird species thriving.

Beautiful walk through the forest and amazing bird noise all throughout! Their work protecting the native bird species makes the ~$20 entry well worth it. We will definitely be back!!
