nice airport except for having to pay airport tax when departing even if its included in your airfares
How does this airport not have a Koru lounge, also the slowest Wi-Fi I have ever seen. Take the drive to tauranga airport any day of the week.
Nice and clean airport. Friendly staff and pretty good of coffee. Pity it's expensive
Best customer service i received
Disappointed. Considering the cost if this car hire, you expect to get what you paid for. The Thrifty website advertises that baby car seats hired will be "waiting for you, pre-installed for a hassle-free pick up." Considering we arrived at 8.30 pm, this sounded like a great option. Instead, the line from the Thrifty representative was that the seat had been "left uninstalled for your peace of mind as a parent to install it yourself." Ok. What kind of installation is it we ask? Isofix we are confidently told. "All our seats are isofix". No worries I thought to myself, slightly annoyed at this point. I can handle Isofix, I have 2 different isofix baby seats home. Alas, this was also not true. Not only was the seat not installed and not isofix, it was saturated - perfect for seating your youngest loved one for the final leg of their long days' travel. May I please have you install the seat we go back and ask. "Well as a father, I wouldn't feel confident in someone else installing my baby seat" I am told. I ask if I may have the manual to try and work out out but this does not exist either and I am advised to take a look at the stickers on the side. Approximately 40 minutes after landing, cold and wet from trying to install the car seat whilst Rotorua laid the rain welcome mat, I did my best with the light of our phone to work out the sticker to be able to leave the airport. The next day, unhappy with the movement of the seat, we called the Thrifty counter to try to have the seat installed by the "trained" staff member who was hopefully on shift during business hours. Nope. Shift manager Mike gave me the same line about leaving the seat uninstalled for my peace of mind He did his best to look at the way I installed it. Phoned someone who offered we try using a towel to reduce movement, then suggested we seek out the baby store in town to see if they could assist with the fit, or a manual for instructions. On mentioning that this was all eating up our time and presumably or funds at the baby store, Mike apologised that the seat was not a regular seat that he had seen before to know how to install it. He had no response to why it was provided saturated. When we questioned a partial refund for the time/break in terms and conditions of the seat not being installed and the poor condition of the seat, he said that a refund would not help as then we would be stuck without a car (as presumably he would need to cancel the entire booking). Thanks Thrifty. Shocking service. I will be sure to tell everybody. Note to all parents - for the hassle of dragging your own seat through airports, you really will have the peace of mind with your own seat.
Great small airport.
Flown in and out of here many times domestically and it is always the best part of travelling from England to New Zealand, love the place. Very well maintained, there's a Relay store inside in case of any need of last minute essentials as well as a cafe. Really good Airport all round.
