A special mountain, with many hiking opportunities. It is useful to have a good condition because the road to the top is long. In the visitor center they have delicious coffee and friendly people who like to tell you about "their" mountain.

What an amazing experience, walking up the side of a volcano and seeing the breathtaking views on he way up. Didn't make it to the top, but an incredible journey all the same. Stunning scenery. Something to tick off my bucket list if I had one.

Must go and see if you in Taranaki. Great views of plateau. If you love tramping and hiking, this is great place to start. Information centre have all info you need. If planning Tracks, plz go prepared as weather system here on mountain changes in Just few minutes.

Most importantly you can fill up your water bottles here before heading for the track.
It is a very nice Centre , there's a cafe inside for relaxing and a museum to soak up some knowledge.You can also catch a glimpse of Taranaki on a clear day.response / report this review -

Lovely mountain views and scenery, good food and coffee. Lots of great mountain walks nearby, just make sure to check the mountain forecast first.
