  Love this place the staff are so polite! the food is amazing! The owner is such a good person they all work around to make sure that you're satisfied as he said himself to me once "our job is to Please everyone" would definitely recommend this over 623 in the city any day.

  Have been here twice recently. Cocktail was nice, mains a bit average and bland both times, big meals. Deserts delish always. Service great both times

  Service is very hit or miss. Most meals are $32.00 now. Thats some nice meat with chips and coleslaw, mashed spud, and or lots of sause. We were a table of 4. With 6 other tables only needing service. Our drinks took 20 minutes. Why ? The food took close to 1 hour. Why ?
  The waitress asked, Who's beer is this. Then placed the full glass on the opposite side of the table from me. She should have placed it in front of me. She could not be bothered to walk to my side of the table. Then they went back to standing around. Very slack. Some ALL of them need more training Sorry.
  The plate is always full with food and its seldom not good.
  Im fussy but i am paying. I dislike chips under the steak and gravey poured all over it. Im lucky to get many that arnt soggy.
  Thats my only compliant and the lazy service which i have sorry to say become used to.

  I came in at 8:45pm with my family for dinner as we just got back to town. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. I suffer from a variety of food allergies and often feel like I'm being a bother when I have to chop and change my meal. The staff were all happy to help and made me feel really comfortable. They are always punctual and polite. This is our favourite restaurant in Nelson. I would highly recommend to anybody and I definitely will be visiting again.

  No room to move & get to & from your table. To much noise, & waited far to long for food. The kid's had to wait a longtime for there food also.

  I had the fish, my husband chose a burger. My fish was perfectly cooked, served with a caper sauce on mashed potatoes with salad. The burger came with fried and aioli. It has bacon and egg in it as well as a big Pattie that looked home made and was flavored with herbs. We were in a hurry, eating there on our way to something else. Our meal was delivered quickly. I definitely would recommend this restaurant. Sorry, I didn't have time for photos.

  At 7:20 pm I inquired at the reception of Lone Star Nelson for a table for one person. There were at least four tables for 1 - 2 persons free and clean. I was sent to the bar. At 19:40 the boy came back and asked me what I wanted to eat. I told him the special Lamb Trump, although I actually intended to eat Calamari before. He asked if I would eat here at the table. An impertinence. He then left me and came back later and took me to a table. I drank my beer. When it was finished, a lady came and said: A second? At 8:25 pm, I had drunk my second beer almost finished, I got up and went to the cash desk and threw the money for the second beer and left. A place, not to be recommended. In Napier the exact opposite. Friendly staff, table without bar and prompt and pleasant service.

  Holy hell the steak I had was the best god damn steak I have ever had. Well done!!! 5 star definitely deserved. Great friendly staff as well.

  Unfortunately we were not only left waiting for over an hour for food but we were left very disappointed and dissatisfied with the quality of both food and service.
  
  I found the quality of food didn't come close to the price tags. When you are charged nearly $40 for a main and it is no different to the fare I was dished up at school you are left scratching your head in amazement and for all the wrong reasons.
  
  Simple drink orders were forgotten about and we were therefore left waiting in vain for drinks we had ordered over an hour before when our extremely substandard meal did finally arrive. Obviously there was next to no attention paid to us from the waiting staff.
  
  I cannot emphasize enough the incredible lack of quality in regards to the food. The descriptions on the menu might as well be a work of fiction in comparison to the bleak and frankly sorry reality that confronted us.
  
  In all it was an incredibly disappointing experience which has prompted my first ever review of any description.
  
  Needless to say I will not be frequenting a Lone Star establishment any time soon.
