It's a nice free entry so you can't go wrong. If you just passing by its a nice little 5 minute walk. Just make sure it's dark outside or you won't really see the glow worms.

A worthwhile stop at dusk and beyond! Very quickly you’ll be surrounded by magical glow worms. Beautiful.

One of the best place in NZ to see the glow worms, but I'm highly disappointed in all the visitors going there and using their bright lights and talking very loud. I went there in winter and it was ok, but in summer it's crowded with people who do not respect anything or anyone. It's a free, magical place but please, DO NOT USE STRONG LIGHTS and KEEP A LOW VOICE. Your eyes will get used to the dark if you stay away from your phone for 5min! If you don't have a good camera with a tripod don't waste your time trying to get pictures, you will mostly just annoy everyone with your bright screen. Please have some respect for these little creatures and other people and keep this little place enjoyable for everyone, including yourself! Just turn your lights off, be quiet and enjoy the show.
Also an interesting cave to see in the daytime, and if you look closely you might spot the glow worms' threads.response / report this review -

Great value for what you pay, Come at night. nice spot to see glow worms. Turn your phone brightness to low and, and JUST STOP SHINING YOUR TORCH ON THE GLOW WORMS! .you cant see them when you do that. I dont understand how it took you multiple times to figure that out. Free admission, great value.

For a free attraction this spot had a lot to offer. My brother and I went around 22:00 and the worms where very visible. I highly recommend this as a spot to stop if you're around the area at nightfall.

Very cool. Could see lots of glow worms. Bring a torch but try not to use it. They'll look a lot brighter if your eyes are adjusted to the dark

Best free place to see glow worm. Note that you have to turn off the light. A group of tourists before us couldn't see anything until we told them to turn off the light.

Great spot, good parking. Bring a torch, warm clothes. Keep quiet and use the torch sparingly and the glow worms will be well worth a visit.

Go there. Look and watch using ur eyes, not your camera. Keep quiet and feel the environment. It is worth your few mins. Go during night time, best during total darkness.

Feels like you've stepped into the jungle, just minutes up the path. We were there at the wrong time of day, so didn't see any glow worms. Plan for it more thoughtfully than we did, if you want to see them ;-) at this freely and easily accessible place.

Amazing experience had it not been for everyone and their aunt coming with their flashlights ruining the atmosphere. Would recommend going later to avoid people.

Amazing, convenient, and free place to see the infamous New Zealand glowworms. I didn't know what to expect, but it was unlike anything else I'd seen in the wild. Thousands of bright lights could be seen after walking only 15 meters into the area. With all the lights off it looks like you are seeing a beautiful, blue-starred sky.
Remember to turn off your camera flash and torch, keep quiet, and be respectful to the other visitors if there are any.response / report this review
