Nice and clean, close to the water, kids splashed about in the pool. Hard to tell that you're so close to the water in the rooms though, as they are closed inward to the pool. Not much they can do about it, just the building layout.

Excellent location, very tidy and comfortable rooms. We love this place and stay as often as time affords. The kids love the pool too, even though we are right on the beach.

My wife and I with our 2 young children stayed at Commodores for the last day of the "Tour of Northland" bike race and then the next three nights and enjoyed the whole experience Russ and Gill provided Kayaks and bikes to get around and were always available but not intrusive this is the 6th time I have stayed and I will be back. This is one of the few places in NZ that I feel relaxed as soon as I arrive Maybe we leave the kids with Nan next time!
