It's a comparatively small Holiday park but had all the basic facilities. The parking area for campsites don't have a gravel or a concrete base so it got a bit muddy n squishy when it rained overnight. The couple at the reception were very nice and friendly. And it is only a few minutes we from the beach where NZ fur seals come to rest. ( Although we were not lucky enough to see them there)

The campsite is located on the coast and is a small one. The campsite parkings could be planned or organised in a better way to make it easier for parking large vehicles. The ground was mushy and soggy from rain creating a thick layer of sponge of grass even in light rain. The vehicle couldn't be stabilised due to lack of firm ground and we feared having our tyres trapped the next morning. There was only 1 toilet and 1 toilet/shower, making people to queue. The showers were timed for 6 minutes and charged 2 NZD. The wash basins had 2 taps - one for extremely freezing water and the other for very hot water, making daily ablutions a tricky task. There wère hand sanitizers available but no hand wash liquids or paper towels or hand dryers. The facility was very bare minimum. The campsite has access to a narrow strip of beach where we were informed that seals could be spotted. But we didn't see any after walking for about a kilometer or more. The site would have seemed prettier and less messier without the rain. The hosts were very sweet and welcoming. We were offered free vouchers for 200 mb of Internet as the site has no network operator coverage. However the wifi connection was patchy and some of us couldn't access any websites or whatsapp after connecting to wifi and logging in with the voucher. For a nights stay it was manageable and not a big hassle. For longer stay, the campsite definitely needs to upgrade the facilities and provide value for money paid by the visitors by atleast increasing shower cabin counts and keeping hand wash and hand dryers in washrooms.

Nice little spot. Lose to beach and interesting to see the sea lions there. Coming back here again one day.

This place is just perfect!! Very clean and cozy. You can get a direct access to the beach. View from the site was amazing. We saw the southern lights at night by chance and its unforgettable! Really enjoyed our stay. Thanks to friendly owner who generously offered the great spot to us :)

As the other reviews state, this place is excellent. We laid up here for a few stays in a storm and it was enjoyable. The ladies who run it are kind and friendly as I've met and interested in making their customers stay a nice one. The place is very clean, nicely laid out and in good location. Great place for nature watching. Recommended.

The owners are these two sweet old lady's that are a joy to speak with. They were more than happy to tell us about the local seals and how to find them. There is a free herb garden for visitors to take from and Surat Bay is just a 5 minute walk.
