Awesome all round, food is great. One star less as decor needs some TLC.
Personally I don't care about what the haters say. If you don't like it don't go there. I find carriages amazing with great service.
I liked the environment and decorations. The coffee was good but the vegetable freits ( or anything the call it) was old and greasy.
Shocking service an dirty dishes everywhere. Had to ask lady to clear 3 tables. She cleared two an left the other. Had to ask again for the tables to be wiped. This cafe has slipped over the years. Coffee an food good though. But won't be back..
Good selection of menu and cabinet food. Our food came quick on a Saturday afternoon when it was less crowded. Friendly staff, however tables were left uncleared. My favourite part was the train carriage seating.
Was one of my favourite cafes . Buts the last two times I have driven up for breakfast was terrible!!! My husband got mince on hash that consisted of sweet cold mince on boild potatoes and I had the hash tower with poached eggs. And got mine with two fred eggs and what looked like the last of a bottle of benidic sauce they put on and for got the rest . Then when I asked the waiter if I could get pouches eggs . I then followed the lady inside to get my husband salt and pepper and heard the guy that took my order saying I asked for fried eggs. When they retired it and I got my breakfast with one poached egg and one hard smelling of rotorua not strained on soggy hash browns . Couldn't believe I had just drove all the way to kumue for!!
Cajun chicken salad has way too much sweet dressing, someone with us had thai beef salad that also had too much sweet dressing. A salad should not be smothered in gross dressing. Carriage we sat in (kids one) was filthy, carpet had food in it, seemed really neglected. Noone came and cleared our plates either.
Great food and coffee. Service is great with nice staff. Recommended.
Visually unappealing. Many tables left uncleared. Mocha was good though
Staff were yelling at each other while we were eating. This is the second time we were there and yet again, people who came after us, were served before us. My husband and I asked for toast for each of us and had to pay $6 for two thin slices of bread, 1 slice each, which didn't taste great. Coffee tasted terrible and the waitress took about 15 min to clear a table behind us, the restaurant was not busy. There were no sugar on the table. We asked for warm milk, we hot cold milk. Our omelet was blackened. Second time bad experience, won't recommend and won't go back again.
