Corporate Greed and bad business decisions are frustrating customers. Trying to save money by choosing not to man the checkouts is really poor form. At the end of the day customers will choose to shop elsewhere if they have a bad shopping experience, get it together Bunnings!!

The store that makes genuine and regular customers feel like criminals!
Call in today to pick up a number of items. Was told by staff at tool department that I couldn't leave the area with the metal cutting blade I needed unless I paid first, explained I had more shopping to do but was told I had to leave the blade there or pay. I suddenly didn't feel like shopping at this point so paid for blade and now off to Mitre 10 to pick up other items. Poor form Bunnings Rotorua !

Today was the last time I went to Bunnings. I have been a very loyal customer and the kids used to love going to Bunnings. Over the years I have spent thousands and since just renovating our house I would have spent a lot more. Sadly today Bruno, the manager of Rotorua store made some bad business decision. I got a window fastener chosen together with our window glazers but when I took it home and measured it to the window it didn't fit. So I took it back to the store. Bruno decided that since the plastic wrapping is opened, he won't take this back. Mind this was like cling film, not some expensive looking plastic box. So I got to keep the $35 window fastener that I can't use. So I packed up the trolley with about $150 goods that I still needed and went back. At the till I said I will only pay if I can return the item. Bruno said no again. So there you go, Bunnings Rotorua, from now on I'll go to Mitre 10.

I am fast becoming very disappointed with what used to be my favourite store. The current policy of closing the checkouts and having to hunt around for somewhere to pay at the Rotorua store is very frustrating, then having to wait again to be checked out of the store. Why are you doing this? it is really frustrating your customers. The other Bunnings stores (Te Awamutu, Hamilton and Tauranga) that I visit from time to time do not do this. It maybe is time to just shop at Mitre 10 where the checkouts are always manned. Please please put some staff back on your checkouts

Has all of the good things bunnings has, but over the past couple of years the costumer service has gone down hill. There is often not enough people in the trade yard to get sku numbers written down. Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be enough staff members in the main store to help you find things.
Please go back to how you were 5 years ago.

I'm not sure I feel happy shopping at Bunnings Rotorua any more, as I don't really like to be made to feel like a shoplifter, simply because I've walked into the place to buy their stuff.

Over the last few month's I've noticed a bit of a trend towards the checkouts. Rather than adequately staffing the main checkouts, you'll usually find the one person on. When the inevitable long queue develops you're bounced between the hardware till or the customer service desk to pay for your items (once I've paid for them, ownership transfers and they are *mine*). When I'm leaving the place, Bunnings then want me to prove *my* items are mine by providing my receipt on exit, which they stamp. Soooo... Bunnings are assuming that you're trying to rip them off, unless you can prove otherwise.

    I don't like that assumption. I'm a valuable customer, not a thief.

Today, I stuck out the long queue and went through the conventional checkout instead. Now the paying customer in front of me was told that it was store policy that she be subject to a bag check and had to open up her handbag at the till to be viewed by the checkout operator. This was *after* she'd already paid for what I'd assume was a not too inexpensive item.

Hey Bunnings, Mitre 10 doesn't treat you like this. They value their customers.

I for one will be shopping there from then on. I no doubt, the customer that was 'visibly embarrassed' in front of me at the checkout will be doing the same from now on.
