It was our first stay in Wairarapa's oldest town - Greytown. We were looking to stay in a colonial and cosy place that suits this charming country village. We found it…..and ended up staying at the Briarwood Boutique Lodge. A beautiful example of an iconic preserved Heritage Buildings (circa 1867)
Great location, as right at the start of the township. When driving in from the north on Main Street (State Highway 2) it is one of the first accommodations on your left. "The iconic boutique lodging in the heart of Greytown" Makes for a nice walk through the charming village visiting the high quality and distinctive shops and cafes.
The hosts were fantastic, made for a great stay. Welcomed with fresh homemade shortbread in our room. The room was beautiful and warm. The grounds and garden are immaculate.
Glad to see a Nespresso machine in the room for our morning coffee.response / report this review -

My husband and I had an amazing stay at Briarwood. We had two very friendly and generous hosts - Claire and Kit. They made sure our room was heated nice and warm upon arrival and Claire even made us some fresh homemade shortbread cookies (delicious!). The establishment is a historic building and we can see that a lot of care has been put in its refurbishment. Our studio is beautiful and styled so perfectly that it felt like a true escape from the hustle and bustle outside. Apart from our kind hosts, it was also the little details that made our stay - we had a little Nespresso machine in our kitchenette that was such a boon for the mornings; and also a glorious puffy duvet which we asked and were told they were Hungarian down. It was a truly relaxing weekend in a charming house, in a quaint town.
