Lovely and beautiful located cafe on Mt. John. While enjoying the best cafe and cakes, you can enjoy the magnificent scene of lake Tekapo from up there ( about 1.000 mtrs above sea level). It can ve reached either from the lake Tekapo about 45 minutes walk or by car. Perfect location for a cafe! I'm pretty sure at night when the sky is clear, you also can view the stars. I tried the latte, carrot cake and cheese scones and they all are superb! Seats are plenty available outside. Many tourists are coming here either to take pictures or just to hang out there. Toilets are available too. I must say I fall in love with this cafe. When I have a chance to visit lake Tekapo again, I definitely must come to this cafe.

Tasty food from a limited menu. Loved the attention to detail when I found Saturn floating on my coffee! Great views and having done the star gazing there the night before it was great to see the observatory and view in daylight. A must if you're near Lake Tekapo.

Food and coffee is ok nothing great. Prices are not too bad, they could have ripped the tourists off if they wanted to. Views are spectacular , it's all the views.

It's a good place for gathering with friends to enjoy the nature view from outdoor. Nice coffee & Hot Chocolate. Being here in different season will have beauty by itself. 🌌☕️

Need to pay $8 to drive up. But it's worth every penny. There's outdoor and insider seating. Coffee is great. The view is greater. Spend bout 1-2hrs there to enjoy the view.

Really friendly staff, and their food was excellent! The cold sandwiches we purchased were warmed up for us and even served with a free side. We couldn't have gotten that if it was in the city.

Fast, friendly and tasty cafe food. My son had an out of this world hot chocolate. See photo.
Note. There is now an $8 road toll to get you to the cafe. Reasonable given usage but you may feel annoyed to drive all the way to the gate to find out.response / report this review -

This was simply stunning. Definitely worth visiting. It does get quite windy up there so make sure if your wearing a hat that it's tight or else it will get blown away.
