A long weekend in paradise. Birchwood offered the space and freedom to relax, exercise and create experiences. Clare & Carl were wonderful hosts and the lodge itself was warm, inviting and had all that we needed.

Seven of us went to the lodge for the first time to celebrate a birthday. What an amazing and special place. We all loved our time there and hope it won't be long before we can return. Everything you need and just the right amount of comfort and rustic charm. Can not recommend Ahuriri Lodge highly enough.

We had a wonderful time!Fishing, walking, stargazing, eating The lodge is wonderfully set out for families, full of character. Carl and Claire have done a great job, we can't wait to go back!

We love staying at Ahuriri River Lodge. Carl and Claire's catchphrase "far from anywhere, close to perfect" is so apt. The location is peaceful and the lodge has all the comforts of home. When the cicadas are "on" in February the fishing is spectacular and we can't wait to come back next year!

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful lodge. The bedrooms were beautifully made up, a well kitted out kitchen with everything that you could possibly need (we stayed over Christmas so this was very handy for cooking a Christmas feast).
Wonderful outdoor area and being the only house for miles, privacy was 10/10. Looking forward to our next stay.response / report this review -

We had the most amazing week at Ahuriri Lodge in January 17. There were 6 of us and we all did what we loved. The girls had their horses and enjoyed the wonderful rides and open spaces. The walks and tramps were fantastic. The boy hunted and fished. All enjoying coming together at night for a stories of the day. Accommodation and the facilities were perfect. Beds comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We could not have asked for anything more. We will be back, it was amazing to get away and have no cell phone coverage and just enjoy what the valley and the open spaces have to offer. What a special place. PS we were allowed to take our dogs/horses which we really valued. Thank you so much.

Absolutely fantastic- loved the Homestead and what a beautifull location and the Ahuriri river - unbelievable..we'll be back!
