The service was good and the food was excellent. Only down fall is that the lady who was our waitress had a very dirty and food stained blouse which was very off putting. Besides the dirty blouse, the view was amazing.

The meal was fantastic and the staff were superb. Thank you for providing activities for our 2 year old and catering to her needs making the dining experience fantastic. Great views and look forward to coming back in summer.

I wanted to treat my mum on Mother's Day to a lovely wine and dine experience. Upon booking no one had told me it was going to be a buffet. The food was less than impressive, cold and most of it was gone so we literally ate some chicken and potatoes.

No one came to our table to ask how the meal was or if we'd like to order a drink so the only option was the warm orange juice on the buffet table.

At the end I was charged $130 for two atrocious meals. Mccafe McDonald's has better service.

Food and service was average. The fish in the fish special was either from froze or off.

My friends and I were extremely disappointed with out breakfast experience at Agave after a fantastic stay at the Castaways Resort . We received zero customer service and not one of the staff appeared friendly, happy or experienced and professional. The food was edible but average and I was dished up a helping of hollandaise on top of my poached eggs which I cannot eat (I would have ordered the Eggs Benedict if I wanted that). The added eggshell was a surprise, but the worst surprise was a lack of apology. Perhaps a discount or complimentary drink could have been offered for the error, but we just received an excuse that the chef uses it for 'decoration' and an average thank you upon payment. The bathrooms were NOT acceptable. Keeping in mind that we were dinning at 10am, the soap dispenser was empty, grit and grime was encrusted onto the tap ware and basin, the ornamental foliage in vases was covered in dust and dust also sat in the corners of the flooring. Not acceptable to us! What a shame, because the location and view was delightful.

On Wednesday night we decided to have a celebratory meal at Agave. The restaurant has recently undergone some changes, and we were extremely disappointed with the results.

One ordered the Stone Grill steak with bacon (really, bacon is THAT much more expensive than seafood?!), and that's literally all he got. A steak, with one strip of bacon wrapped around it. No sides at all.

Another ordered the pork belly. The crackling was soft and it was not as well cooked as expected - apparently it did not 'melt in her mouth'. The meal was also lukewarm, and the scallops served with it were cold.

I ordered the duck, because there is no longer any chicken on the menu (really?!). The duck was tough and chewy, and there was a significant layer of fat that was inedible. I ended up pulling it off just to get at the meat. In addition, there were parts of the meat that I was unable to chew. My meal was also lukewarm at best. It consisted of one tiny duck breast with a smattering of veggies, and that was it. Hardly anything for the price we paid.

We have always gone to Agave to celebrate different occasions, as we always enjoyed the meals. This was incredibly disappointing, and we are unlikely to ever be back.

Atmosphere Great. Food? I'd rather go to a really nice cafe, Waiuku has plenty of them. I think Agave relies too heavily on the view to provide their customers with a good dining experience. You see this amazing view and think 'wow I can't wait to taste the food here,' and then you do and its a let down of the whole experience.
Having said that, I've been invited to a High Tea there tomorrow. Will post a review on that later.

The taste of the food is great. The portions are HUGE. The wine selection may not be the best and there wasn't an option for bottled or sparkling water. The waiters were accommodating to our requests and were friendly. The view is spectacular. Calamari and venison ribs were cooked perfectly. It's a great compliment to your day if you are staying at Castaways.
