Women Act (Women Acting for Transformative Change)

Women Act (WA) is a national level, non-profit making, non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2007 as a network of 35 other NGOs' and women networks to address gender inequality and for the empowerment of women, girls and youths. WA believes that, for Nepal to become a more democratic and resilient society, it must give women, and those who come from historically marginalized groups equal access to resources and decision-making opportunities. Hence, gender equality and social inclusion is fundamental in achieving good governance, economic growth, and development of this country.WA has been active since its establishment involving 35 other NGO partners/networks that are also working for the empowerment of Nepalese women from all walks of life.WA consists of nine dedicated, highly professional and prominent women activists as its board members. Similarly, it has 34 dedicated and highly professional full-time staffs (including full-time project teams/staffs) and 27 part-time staffs/trainers/consultants (need basis). In addition, WA has its District Chapters/Offices in Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Kailali, Achham, Dolakha, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts of Nepal.
