Vajra Books is a great publisher and book shop. Vajra has published many academic books written by international eminent scholars. I've never been to book shops with such a large selection of books until now in Himalayan countries.

One of the most exhaustive collection of books on the Himalaya, Buddhism, Philosophy and especially Nepal! Well worth a visit if you are in Kathmandu and do ask the owner Bidur to let you visit the huge stock of books on the first floor!

Vajra Books is my go to number one gem of a researcher's dream bookstore of esoteric and rare titles. Bidur, the owner, is very informed about recent work and is friendly and always helpful. A visit to Vajra Books will absolutely enrich your experience and expand your knowledge of the magical Himalayas and beyond!

Pretty good bookshop with two sections -- one on main street and one in an apartment at the back.

Big selection of books about Nepal and Tibet with plenty of photo books.

They also publish books (online/Kindle) which is impressive.

Friendly staff. I met the owner and his wife, both in the photos, and they are friendly and worth meeting.

I have been buying publications in the field of Buddhist studies from Vajra Books since 2001, and have been working with them as a translator and author since 2014. He has a great selection of books in my field and is always up-to-date. Over the years I benefited greatly from the proprietor Bidur Dangol's help and expertise whenever I was looking for out-of-print material or overseas shipment. As an author i can testify that Bidur always does his best to fulfill our translation group's needs, he works efficiently and professionally. Keep up the good work!

If you are an avid or even mildly avaricious bibliophile, or a simple grazer, there are no pastures greater for book lovers of all things Asian- scholarly, art, history, anthropology, than Vajra Book Store. I walked in knowing I needed to buy a replacement of Manandhar's Plants and People which my dog had chewed. Not only did Bidur have this incredible book, but like the true connoisseur he is, began pulling like a magician or alchemist who knows his shelves perfectly- incredible hidden gems- recently published titles in all the subjects he knows precisely I adore. Alas, he has my number and if you like books even slightly, Vajra Book Store is the place to go!
