This bus station is quite far from the tourist areas. Buses to Kathmandu leave from here (don't believe agencies or hotels who tell you "there's only one at that time" - it's for selling you an overpriced ticket and taxi). You can get a ticket to Kathmandu for 500 rupees. Don't believe either anyone trying to sell you a more expensive ticket on the grounds that they bring you to Thamel - only private cars and mini-buses might do that. We've fallen in that tourist scam; the lying salesman of the Tahalka green buses made us pay 700 rupees to be left 3km from Thamel. He also said that we'd arrive by 2-3pm; we were there around 5. Count a good 8 hours to get there. Coffee/lunch breaks with that company stops you at expensive or tourist overcharging locations. The bus was comfortable however (A/C, good suspensions, seating in the front) and they gave us water.

Here is the deal that took me a few years to figure out. Never book a bus ticket in advance. Go to the bus park and walk like a boss to the buses. Don't stop for anyone. When you get near the buses ask for a reputation bus company. My goal is a safe driver. Some drivers drive like wild rabid hogs. I have been happy with blue sky, Swiss and Mountain overland. Ask for one of these buses. The people hanging around will point you in the right direction. When you get to the bus of your choice ask for a front seat. Have them show you which one it is and have it written on the bus ticket. Unless you have a bunch of luggage the price is $600 rupees to Kathmandu. Why do I say not to book. You will see when you are on the bus. When you book someone makes commission and they sell the back seat first. Notice how the tourist are all in the back getting rattled around like a bobble head as the bus bounces down the road. They keep the front seats open because the savvy Nepali travelers know that the bumpiest seats are in the back. I try to avoid the very front seats in case there is an accident I prefer to collide with a seat and not the glass or handrail. Happy travels and I hope this helps. Please give it a like if it does.

People! If you want to go in Lumbini, NEVER buy ticket in company on the first photo, “tourist buspark canteen” on Coca Cola banner with small cafe/shop inside. Bus driver and his helper on the bus number 5440 drive us by very long way, and they pick up passengers belong all way, all trip takes about 11 HOURS. They don’t drive by short road, but drivearound all villages to take more local passengers, for get more money for themself! And they just smile when I ask them WHY? Road to Lumbini takes MAXIMUM 5-6 hours!

These people do not turn Air Conditioner on while it is hot and suffocated inside during afternoon travelling hours, when told to turn AC on they have poorest excuse i ever heard, Poor people of Poor Nepal, Nepal is growing and developing only on the money it gets from tourist and they are allways on the mission to RoB there guests as much as possible. There attitude towards tourist is not to serve at all but Robing them anyway anyhow..

Almost all the Tourist Buses from Pokhara to Kathmandu and Chitwan leave from here. They all leave in the morning. You can find lots of taxies at the bus station. As soon as you climb down the bus you will have lots of drivers coming to asking if you need taxi. The area has lots of restaurants but all are of local category. At the morning time lots of bakery sellers will come to you asking if you need bakery. The area is wide enough, but not clean and managed enough. Within the walking distance of 10 minutes you can reach starting point of lakeside (area around hotel Kantipur/ Fishtail lodge gate) from Tourist Buspark. If you need to go else where out of Pokhara except Kathmandu, Chitwan or places on their way and except at the morning time, either you will have to hire a vehicle or catch a local bus from local bus park.

As of October 2017, tourist buses run from here to Kathmandu. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours. Arrive early with a ticket in hand and walk through the bus park to spot your bus - that took some time with over 50 buses parked in the area.

I want to tell one thing just 35 step there is local shop its is normal rate but inside buspark there is too expensive rate. so please go to main road 20 second in main road to buy something. I really sad about rate.

Dirty bus area but I wasn't expecting much anyways. You Can buy the worst coffee I have ever tasted in my life from here and some fresh baked goods for the journey which where ok considering.

Was here in monsoon so, wet and muddy. Rampant with taxi drivers and hotel touts, typical of a tourist bus station. A whole incident with forgetting my headphones on the bus led to a chat with a really nice Tourist Police Officer and I got them back when the bus showed up to go back to Kathmandu.

A little way outside the main lodging area, it's about a 15min walk to Lakeside so bear that in mind of you're carrying a lot of weight.
