One of the best monastery in Lumbini premises. It is made from the Thailand 🇹🇭 government. Great roofing architectures from thailand. Nice white color buildings and huge structures. Worth visiting the place and know something about thai monasteries. Well maintained and good gardening and quiet environment.

In Lumbini Premises, the Thai government has built altogether three monasteries that embody Thai art, craft and design. Close to the north end of the pond, this stunning and imposing wat (Thai-style monastery) is built from gleaming white marble. The blue-roofed meditation centre next door is another fine piece of architecture. Arguably the greatest compound in the monastic zone. The Thai government has been providing financial and technical support to the development of Lumbini and the Lumbini Master Plan, besides lending its support for education, health and connectivity in the locality.

The Royal Thai Monastery Lumbini is situated in the vicinity of Lord Buddha's birthplace in Lumbini Sacred Garden in the Federal Demo cratic Republic of Nepal. The monastery was built with financial support of the Royal Thai Government and innumerable individual donors, which was initially used to lease a 5- acre piece of land for a period of 99 years. The establishment of the monastery marked the commemo ration of His Majesty King Bhumibol's 50 year on the throne.

The Thai Ministry Cabinet approved the establishment of the Royal Thai Monastery Lumbini on December 15, 1992 and appointed the Ministry of Education to select a committee responsible for overseeing the design and construction of the monastery. The committee's ultimate goal was to ensure that the construction project aligned with the commitment between the governments of Thailand and Nepal to promote Buddhism and Thai arts and culture as part of the Lumbini Development Project, which would become a center for promoting and preserving Buddhism. On November 19, 1995 the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand presided over the ceremony to mark the commencement of construction. The ceremony was also attended by the Thai Deputy Minister of Education, the Thai Ambassador to Nepal, officials from the Department of Religious Affairs, members of Lumbini Development Trust (LDT and Nepalese Buddhists.

Not near as good as those in Thailand. In October 2017, there arent any glass tiled walls or roof. Mostly white building with high Thai roof design. But garden is well kept and surrounding is peaceful, tidy and calm. Due to event coming up, many places were off-limit.

I live in Thailand, and I have visit a lot of temples there. And sure this is an OK one, but it's missing life. It reminds me of something the Disney ® company would build, go and take a photo then off to the next one. After visiting I left feeling disappointed.
