Ground staff disappear into their office and come out whenever they feel like it, and refuse to give information about what's going on, when to expect to fly, or when to be at the desk ready to check in. Occasionally when an agent turns up to check people in, it was like getting served in a busy bar, with whoever grabs the their attention first getting the first flight - make sure you keep standing at the desk all morning, you don't want to be away when the agent turns up. Agent seemed to get bored of checking people in to the 8.30 flight and suddenly stopped and walked off without saying anything, then later accused my friend who was next in the line of not having turned up on time - gave his seat to someone else in the mean time, or maybe it was overbooked all along. Policy of honouring pre-booked tickets over delayed passengers means people who missed a flight were waiting 3 days then giving up and paying extra for a helicopter, while new passengers were turning up and leaving on time on the same days. Eventually flew out late on the day booked, but they made it a very unnecessarily stressful experience. Try a different airline to see of they're any better (good luck!) or just walk out to Salleri and get a jeep instead. Flight itself was fun though.
Totally agreed with Jani Verster. Appreciate the pilots for their extraordinary works but the ground staff are far from terrible. Rude, irresponsible and charmless. Waited the whole day for the flight (could be many days to many) and was informed about cancellation at 2.30pm, but when i came to their office at 3pm, nobody was there. I do believe they are busy doing personal stuffs. They appeared at 4pm and was very uncooperative in changing flight tickets for clients. All have been fixed to the latter flights of the next days which means lower chances of flying. I dont know the procedure for this but i do believe i couldnt get the first flight bcoz the staff was not at office earlier. Too bad you dont have many alternatives. Helicopters would be 2-3x more expensive while bus will take much longer time (18hrs i heard)
WORLD'S WORST AIRLINE!!! I am not complaining about being grounded for three days due to bad weather, and I am sure the pilots are fantastic, but the ground crew at Lukla are unbelievably rude, uncommunicative and seem to derive a twisted pleasure from keeping their customers in the dark. Not recommended.
For us to and from Lukla. Not the best place but the pilots did a good job in mediocre conditions.
