Swoyambhunath Stupa is located on the top of a small hill adjacent to the ringroad, Kathmandu. There is a long stair that lead visitors to the Stupa. The end section of the stair is very steep in which a metal bar is placed that will help you to ascend or descend in ease. The Stupa is quite famous among the Nepalese and foreign visitors. The place has got a misnomer of " monkey temple" due to the presence of a large number of monkeys.

One of the place listed in world heritage site.
A pleasant place to spend morning and evening on a holiday. Sunrise,sunset and Kathmandu valley is must to see from this temple as it is situated on the top of hill.

Also called monkey temple because of the many monkey living there. They are nice but don't go to close. Situated at the top of a hill, the temple is nice and will offer you a beautiful view of the city. The entry cost is 200 rupees.

This place is the included in the WORLD HERITAGE SITE list. It is also the pilgrimage place of Buddhist religion. Huge number of tourist visits this place every year.
Besides this, great view of Kathmandu Valley can be seen from this place. It also has binoculars at the top which can be hired and you can observe the beautiful valley and the Himalayan range. Lots of monkeys are seen in this place.

Must visit this place if you're a religious person. Famous destination for foreigners. Lots of shops around here to buy souvenirs from Nepal. Beware of the monkeys. 🙂

I love the spiritual and calm atmosphere here. The hike up can be steep, but you will be rewarded with the glorious stupa and incredible views of the city. This place is also known as the "Monkey Temple" - it is a monkey haven. Large and small monkeys can be seen lounging around or chasing after visitors - keep food and drink out of sight for your own sake please. All in all, a lovely place and I would visit again.

It's amazing for hiking and reach up to the blessing of God with peace of mind.
The all day music will fill you with peach and kindness.
Monkeys are used to so be careful with them .
It's a big area starts and ends in opposite side.

Definitely a place to visit if you are in Kathmandu!
Place is filled with a lot of cute monkeys, and the surroundings are nice as well. You will find many quiet spots to sit and observe and there is also a nice garden maintained enough. It is definitely worth taking your time to walk around and enjoy!

Swoyambhu Stupa or Swoyambhunath is also known as Monkey temple.It is religious place for people who follow Buddhism and path of Buddha.It can be ultimate place for peace lover. Situated at the top of the hill in peace and quiet environment. We can see clear view of kathmandu valley from here.And it is believed that the two eyes of Buddha is always watching deciding it is justice or injustice. This is good shelter for monkey's 🐒 and the monkey from Swoyambhu is said that they are quiet naughty.

A historical landmark and a religious site which absolutely should not be missed when visiting Kathmandu. It is worth taking the long stairway rather than driving all the way up, the views are great and most probably you will meet the monkey gangs which are running/fighting freely around there.

Good place to enjoy a piece of old Nepalese culture.
Not fair that they charge 200 Rs only to tourist. As a spiritual place, this should be a place free and open to everyone!!!

Nice historical place with a spiritually soothing environment. Amazing view of the whole Kathmandu city from the top of the hill. Huge number of monkeys wander around. Never should disturb them, otherwise they may attack or snatch mobile phone or bag.

One of the most peaceful places in Kathmandu. Worth the long trek up the stairs. FEE FOR TOURISTS! Which you'll find once you get to the top. Lots of little market stalls up too but maybe buy elsewhere as they are quite pricey. Fantastic views across the city.

A must visit site in Kathmandu. The ancient architecture amidst beautiful greenery and breathtaking view from the top is not be missed. It is a true representation of religious coexistence of Hinduism and Buddhism. I find the walk around the Stupa area really peaceful. Will recommend going in evenings if you want to catch a luminous landscape of K-Town.

It's one of the historic place in Nepal.
Great place to visit in Kathmandu. You have to step up lots of steps to reach at Stupa, and from top you can see amazing view of Kathmandu valley. Stupa is very beautiful, it has been cracked after the mega earthquake 2015, now repaired and looks amazing again. Highly recommended place to visit.

It's one of the historic place in Nepal. Though the stairs you climb might give you a good exercise, you'll love the view you get once you reach there..
I love to spend evenings here.. It's really peaceful.

Watch out for the MONKEYS though! :D

I love this place.it's an tourist area.
You can see the scene of kathmandu valley if the weather is good.Here's so many steps and there's monkeys too. Be careful these monkey can stole your goods. Its a peaceful place. So many couples come here just to enjoy their time.
This is a historical place. I have visited here for many times because I love this place a lot .
