When it comes to photography, Achyut Shrestha can only be described as crazy. Photography is all he knows, besides the science of lighting and the art
of visualizing. At the age of fourteen , peeking through the viewfinder of a SLR, Praktica, an early 35 mm, Achyut knew what was to come in the days
ahead and what he had to foster as and achieve over the years. That is, mastering the salient art of understanding, interpreting and creating memorable
images. Since then, the journey has continued, moving along with Olympus, Pentax, Minolta, Nikon and numerous other single lens reflexes, reflecting upon
the enthusiasm, the passion and the zest that rested within the photographer. Growing up in a family of inquisitive artists and art lovers, Achyut’s quest
was supported and nurtured by his sister, Bunu, an artist specialising in portraits. The majestic scenario and the rich heritage of Kathmandu, the city of
temples and cultures, became an open studio for the photographer to experiment, learn and to enrich the knowledge behind the very art of composition.
At a tender age of 18, Achyut’s passion met the channels of professionalism with the first photo archival project of ancient Newari and Hindu manuscripts
at Asa Saphu Kuti located at Raktakali, Kathmandu. But the mild start was not to restrict the dimensions of his exploration. Along came his outstanding
images of Kathmandu, the unexplored Bahals, the serene landscapes, and for the last few years, the fascinating facets of fashion. Today, you will find
the photographer working in his studio, day and night with images that bring about the change. Snaap studio, the artist’s hermitage now specialises is
fashion, product, editorial photography and in other discourses alike. Besides perfecting the images for your business, the artist continues to explore, today as well.
