    Baadshaho

Directed by a very accomplished director Milan Lutharia with the film like "Once upon a time in Mumbai" and "The Dirty Picture", Baadshaho is based on the emergency state declared in India and it's consequences.

    ...

First half starts with subtle note but begins to pick pace with every passing minute. Not so lavish on camera work, India of the 70s is depicted pretty well. The film goes on intermission on a high note. There are suspense that unveil on the second half, although not shocking they provide a nice twist in the tale towards the end. Except for the fight amidst white desert fog and a sudden end, the film thoroughly impresses.

Ajay Devgn has performed excellently on his loyal and fearless man. Ileana D'Cruz is elegant as the royalty and performs good. Emraan Hashmi as a cool casanova is equally good. Stand out is Sanjay Mishra with his witty and hilarious dialogues. Esha Gupta is passable and Vidyut Jamwal has done better roles earlier. Priyanshu Chatterji has a blink and miss role.

Raqshe Kamar is a soothing song and Piya More Haule Haule is sizzling hot song filmed on Sunny Leone and Emraan Hashmi.

A entertainer you may not remember for long but for sure you get entertained when you watch.

    A Gentleman

Raj&Dk, the director duo has made myriad kind of films from "Go Goa Gone", " Shor in the City" to "Happy Ending". Adding to this list of variety comes an Action movie topped up with romance.

    ...

First half is silky smooth and stylish. No stopovers to break the flow of the film and a rapid unveiling of the story that keep on intriguing. Wrapped with humor, first half gives you plenty to laugh. Second half however is somewhat "filmy", possible only in movies. The style quotient never misses a beat during the entire length of the film.

Siddharth Malhotra is clear cut on his expressions. Jacqueline Fernandes as an eye candy is clueless. Darshan Kumar is grown good as actor. Suniel Shetty has a cameo after a very long time and he's very good.

Camera angles are outstanding on scenic Miami. "Oh Chandralekha" is the new party anthem in town.

Overall a decent entertainer with sleek and style factor to the fullest.

    Toilet - Ek Prem Katha

This title for the film can be one of the most absurd thing we have heard in recent times. Directed by editor turned director Shree Narayan Singh is directly related with "Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan" movement initiated by the government of India.

    ...

No prizes for guessing that the film is woven around the plot of getting a toilet in a home. But expect a lot of humor, mostly with witty dialogues. First 30 minutes or so is complete laugh riot with some sprinkle of romance. The fight between "Culture Vs Toilet" gets strong as the film moves into the second half.

Akshay Kumar is hilarious as well as strong headed exactly what the script demands from an experienced artists like him. One film old Bhumi Pednekar acts like an experienced actress, completely natural and effortless. Divyendu Sharma has his role throughout the movie as the protagonist's brother and Sudhir Pandey is stubborn, the entire film. Anupam Kher's cameo is something you will remember.

"Hans mat pagli" is a romantic song that frequents in the film and other songs are placed without interrupting the flow of the film.

One word for the film, this Toilet does not stink. A clean family entertainer.

    Jab Harry Met Sejal

Imtiaz Ali, the master storyteller of romance with the likes of Jab We Met, Rockstar, Highway, we expect something different. And, there is King of Romance, definitely something to watch out for. What happens "Jab Harry Met Sejal"?

    ...

There are basically just two characters in the film, Harry and Sejal. There are no background of both the characters. First half is a crash tour of Europe without the popular landmarks. Humor quotient is tried to stuffed in mixed with some flavor of romance but the attempt fails miserably. Second half is all romance but sadly it is all clichΓ©d and seen several times over the years in Bollywood flicks. The chemistry looks forced and fails to connect and there is no script whatsoever.

SRK has shown sincerity in his role, but he looks too old to romance and portray Harry. Anushka Sharma fails to impress as a Gujju girl. There are no more characters that have anything to say.

Pritam is a failure in music department except for the song Radha.

Watch only if you are a die hard fan of SRK. Watch DDLJ instead.

    Mubarakan

Anees Bazmee, the pro director in handling comedy films has several audience loved films like No Entry, Ready, Welcome and the likes. Mubarakan is yet another trademark Bazmee movie with clean family story.

    ...

The twist of relationships in the first five minutes needs some time for the audience to soak in. There are hilarious moments in the first half that bursts you laughing. However, there is too much of family drama to tackle with. Second half is stretched by ten minutes or so but humor does fill in that as well.

Anil Kapoor is the center of this humour orchestra and gives excellent performance. Arjun Kapoor does justice to both the roles assigned to him in proper manner. Iliena D Cruz is straight out of "Main Tera Hero". Athia Shetty doesn't have much share of screen and ditto for Neha Sharma. Pawan Malhotra and Ratna Pathak Shah have done stellar performance.

Punjab is in the air for the entire film. There is not much in the songs department except for Hawa Hawa with that hint of 90s song.

Overall, a decent and clean and no brainer family entertainer with humor but not as many stuffed as in Anees Bazmee's previous works.

    Jagga Jasoos

Anurag Basu is the name itched on the people's mind with the film "Barfi". This time it's Disney associated with Jagga Jasoos and you can rightly guess that it's more inclined towards kids.

    ...

Let's talk about something unique in this film, the dialogues. There aren't many dialogues in it, and the majority of conversation is in songs. It's one of a kind lyrical and musical movie attempted in Bollywood. The length of the film, well over 2 and half hours is too much for a film. The entire film is some sort of comics where the tender and physically average guy is able to beat all the baddies of the world with his brains and manages to escape unscathed.

Ranbir Kapoor as Jagga sports a unique hairstyle and makes a sincere attempt on a bit more than a teenager guy. Katrina Kaif is good. Saswata Chaterji as Tutifuti is a complete metamorphosis from what he had played in his last, "Kahani". Saurabh Shukla is made look irritating.

Basically the entire film is one big song where characters fit in and perform. Excellent job by Amitabh Bhattacharya to pen the lyrics for throughout the film and Pritam to add music to it, although only a couple of songs do catch your attention.

Cinematography and VFX is superlative, yet the target audience for the film is strictly limited to kids.

You might read out some comics if you find it somewhere but not with any expectations, this film is your comic book made into theatres.

    Tubelight

Kabir Khan and Salman Khan team has been excellent in the past, not only as a grosser but they have entertained the audience with storyline as well. How bright will the tubelight shine?

    ...

The film is about "Yakeen", the faith you hold over anything. The unfolding of the story is smooth, but the acceleration factor on the story goes down and down with every passing moment. There are moments that are repetitive. Based on Sino-Indian war of 1960s, the retro era is shown flawlessly. There are few light moments but too far and few. Predictable proceedings makes you know what's next.

Salman Khan is excellent as a naive guy and equally awesome in the emotional scenes. Chinese actress Zhu Zhu has done a brilliant job and so is the kid Matin. There is not much of Sohail Khan and Om Puri in his last film (May his soul Rest In Peace). Zeeshan Auyub is good. There is a blink and a miss role of Shahrukh Khan as well.

Songs, a couple of them are good and rest are passable, however they aren't stuffed forcefully. DoP has done excellent job with the camera angles.

Overall, the film doesn't live upto the expectations by the Actor-Director duo.

    Bank Chor

Bumpy had made his bollywood debut as director along with Shraddha Kapoor in their film "Luv ka the End". With not much success in that, he tried a comedy flick with an actor with impeccable comedy timing, Riteish Deshmukh. On comedy genre, how comic is the film?

    ...

Let me tell you, all the comedy scenes you see in the movie promos are the exact amount of comedy in the film. First 5 minutes brings out the giggles and then it dries up. One can tolerate foolishness to an extent but not beyond that. However, the suspense just before interval sprinkles some glimmer of hope with a twist but it becomes too late to grab interest when the suspense is broken at the final 10 minutes of the film.

Riteish Deshmukh is not at his best because he does not have much scope to give his signature one liner comedy punches. Sahil Vaid of "Badrinath ki Dulhaniya" fame is excellent. Rhea Chakraborty doesn't have much scope and Vivek Oberoi is just about ok. Baba Sehgal, no one is aware why is he featured in the film.

There are no songs in the movie and the length is kept shorter to make the film just about tolerable.

A twist too many to be called a film of comedy genre. Change of the genre to suspense and in the hands of experienced director, the film could have gone to a next level.

    Half Girlfriend

Mohit Suri, a famous director with some hits in box office had a disastrous last film, "Hamari Adhuri Kahaani". This film is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's 2014 novel with the same name. How well the movie is crafted?

    ...

First thing I noticed is a complete mismatch on casting director's part on choosing the lead actors based on how they've been depicted on the novel.

First half is way too slow and there are songs stuffed out of nowhere. The actors fail to establish a grip and when you've gone through the novel earlier, your imagination gets replaced by some mediocre details than what you've read. The final 20 minutes or so grabs your interest on witnessing the end.

Arjun Kapoor is good as Bihari guy, Madhav Jha. However, Shraddha Kapoor has under performed to what was required. She flaunts her English but fails to deliver the panache required to an affluent Riya Somani.

Songs are stuffed way too many and non of them soothe your ear except for "Thodi Der". If you haven't read the novel before, you "might" find the film interesting but if you've already been through it, you feel the film is a complete let down.
