National Federation of the Deaf Nepal(NDFN); formerly named as Nepal National Federation of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NFDH) is the nation's premier civil rights organization of, by and for deaf individuals in the Nepal. Having 36 Deaf associations affiliated; NDFN is non governmental, non political, non profitable and social organization registered in CDO-Kathmandu and Social welfare Council (SWC).
Established in 1995, the NDFN is strengthened by the deaf leaders who believed in the right of the Nepalese deaf community to have their identity as Deaf and right to use Nepalese sign language (NSL). NDFN believe on the strong Deaf community embraced with Deaf Culture in Nepal.
NDFN has been advocating for the legal provisions ensuring the rights of deaf people, conducting the programs such as developing and disseminating of Nepali Sign Language (NSL), formation of local deaf associations and their capacity building, interpreter service to deaf people, leadership, awareness and advocacy for the rights, social equality and discrimination free deaf community in Nepal.
Affiliated with World Federation of the Deaf (WFD); an international human rights organization in 1996 and Regional Secretariat (WFD RS A/P) ; NDFN represents Federal Democratic Nepal on the international front.
