If you have limited time and wish to enjoy the nature either by hiking or on bike ride, this is the most suited place within the vicinty.
Namacho gumba and a beautiful trek route is what special about this place. The view tower at the top provides clear and almost complete and mesmerising view of Kathmandu valley. The forest is cool and scenic, you can take a trek route of 5 km uphill or alternatively 17 km ride from your vechile to reach the top.
Multiple routes for hike in this place. The shortest one is 5km with more than 2k stairs to climb. You wont see many animals on this route; probably some pheasants. Once you enter the park, there are no any shops/stores for you to buy water/food so its better to stock up before pursuing the hike. If you're a foreigner or a group of Nepali with more than 5 people, it is mandatory for you to hire a guide for which they'll charge you Rs. 1200 as of today's record. This is in addition to the entry fee that you pay. (Rs. 50+VAT per person per entry for Nepali, Rs. 500+VAT per person per entry for foreigners)
There's a longer route of 17km. You are likely to see some deers in addition to pheasants in this particular route. The hiking guides also reported that they have spotted leopard in this route as well.
Nice place for hiking, sight seeing and cycling. You can get peaceful environment and enjoy wildlife.
We went to the top. It was nice place around. There is view tower at the top and one small stupa. No need to climb the tower, when you reach there, you already feel high😀. Recommended for hikers. Two way ten kilometers.
it is located in raniban town it is place where gautam buddha is also resting .
Short 5k hike to the top of you take the stairs, 17k pleasant trail that tapers through the forest if you take the vehicle route
Good place for a short hike near Kathmandu. The uphill hike to Jamacho Gumba (viewpoint at about 2050m) usually takes about 2 hours and returning back takes about an hour for a casual hiker. The hiking trail passes through moderately dense forest area providing cool shade to the hikers throughout the hike and thus the trail is recommended for all seasons throughout the year.
Jamacho hike takes two to three hours. If you are planning to visit this place then go in a group of five or six people or more than that. Otherwise in the ticketing gate they will insist you to take a nature guide which is absolutely irrelevant. Just try to negotiate for the guide because the trail is easiest trail. Take plenty of water as there is no water resources on the way or up at gumba. And please don't throw plastic wrappers or anything none disposable stuffs in the jungle.
Very nice for early morning hiking. It is steep and path is nicely managed. One way distance up to the top is around 6 kms. Entry fee of rs 50 is required for Nepali citizens
